The kind of politician we need a lot more of today. From the old school - a man who believed thst service to his country meant something…when conservatives weren’t all whiny asshats (full disclosure, same can be said of latter day liberals as well) like they are today.

RIP Mr. Dole. And thank you for your service.

In March 1945, Dole was wounded in a battle in Italy, but that wasn't the only injury he endured during the war.

On April 14, 1945, Dole was severely hurt while trying to protect his troops from enemy fire; he was shot in the upper right of his back. He was in hospitals over the next three years, going through eight surgeries and fighting off two life-threatening infections. As a result of his injuries, he never regained use of his right arm. During his political career, would carry a pen in his right hand so people wouldn't shake it.

For his service, Dole was awarded two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star, which is given to those who displayed heroic efforts in war.

I see the Babylon Bee is reporting that Bob Dole just switched to the Democrat party.

I'm sure he would get a chuckle out of that. RIP.

It's "beyond scary" that the extreme right has completely taken over the Republican Party and the extreme left has just about taken over the Democratic Party. We need a new "Common Sense" Party that represents the majority of Americans who support neither of those two current choices. How did we allow ourselves to be steamrollered like this? As we lose men like Robert Dole, who care about doing the right thing, not what party leaders tell them to do, it becomes even clearer what kind of absolute crap we now have "representing us" in our Congress.

"Every nation gets the government it deserves." de Maistre

America's greatest generation elected some of its greatest leaders. Now they're gone and we're left with, well, what we're left with. The leaders are a reflection of the people; selfish, greedy, irresponsible, unable or unwilling to delay gratification, and not all that sharp. Have you seen the movie, "Idiocracy"? We're living it.

Anywho...

Bob Dole was a great gentleman. He served his country in one way or another nearly every day for more than 75 years. He should be missed.

“We the people” need to wake up, dig in, and get dirty…much work to be done.
