Great coach, could take a bunch of small town 3 stars and beat a team full of nba draft picks. in fact did just that in 87, knocking off LSU, UNLV and Syracuse

If I'm Indiana, I would have a chair throwing competition at halftime in his honor.

A Season on the Brink is one of my favorite reads of all time. There will be articles written about his death and what a tyrant he was, little will be said about the countless funerals he paid for, the charitable gifts he generously gave, the way he lobbied for his former players. He was certainly a complex, layered, flawed, and generous character. If the world was run the way he ran a program (minus the choking and chair trowing) society would be much better.

The interesting thing about guys like Bobby-
Temper and impulse control issues are not debatable. But if guys like that are such a liability, why was he able to get so much out of his players? His record speaks for itself. Some players have respect for work ethic and excellence, can take criticism, some can’t.
