Only Artimus Pyle remains as the last surviving original member of Lynyrd Skynyrd

It's amazing Gary was still going after all these years. I grew up listening to Skynyrd, and was thrilled when they put together the tribute band with Johnny, even though it was a shell of the real deal without Ronnie. I saw them at Harvey's Lake in the early '90s and later in Allentown when much of the band was still intact. They put on a Hell of a show, just wish I could've seen the real deal with Ronnie.

Bummer. My favorite band is slowly dying off. I never saw them before the crash. Got to see Rossington Collins in Binghamton shortly after. Have seen Skynyrd multiple times since their reincarnation and have tix to see them again this year with ZZ Top.

Can they still call themselves Lynyrd Skynyrd since there are no original band members left? ZZ Top at least has two originals.

Last of the original members, unless you include Ricky Medlocke who played drums and sang as a studio musician on some of Skynyrds first studio recordings.

I got to see Skynyrd in the 90’s at the Delaware State Fair when the surviving members were mostly present. Leon Wilkinson and Billy Powell were alive then and Ricky Medlocke had just joined the band.

I remember the infamous plane crash quite well because it happened when I was in Mountainview hospital recovering from an appendectomy my sophomore year at Penn State.

I found the article that was printed after the Binghamton show on Aug 10, 1980.

Not very flattering, but not surprising. I had just finished telling my wife that the only thing I remember from the show was Free Bird and the lone stool with a spotlight on it.

Like most bands that last 50 years, they usually make the best tribute bands. 🤷‍♂️

I’m bummed I never got to see ZZ Top in their original form. 🤦‍♂️

Not sure you want to go with Artimis until you do research.
I believe he is referring to Artemus Gordon who was James West running mate on
the tv show the Wild Wild West.

Do the research.
I'm sorry. Climbing into the mind of the Rick is a dangerous voyage. 🙉

Of course he switched the topic to another completely different topic and not the band. This is where I was going.

The Phillies did have this promo during the 1977 season

Halter Top Night on Aug. 19 when halters will be given away. "If they can fill 'em. they can have 'em." reports SI Correspondent Charlie Frush. Each halter will sport the slogan of the cosponsor Tastykake: ALL THE GOOD THINGS WRAPPED UP IN ONE
