Very few players I enjoyed watching more than I did Charles White. He was one of the greatest bowl players ever.
Well that article says it all about the toll this sport can take on a player. RIP Charles.
Sounds like CTE and probably earlier than anyone knew. He was self-medicating even while playing. This sport is extremely tough. I applaud guys who retire from the NFL early and intact.
Some follow up on Charles Johnson's suicide. Very sad stuff.

Cause Of Death For Former NFL Receiver Charles Johnson Revealed
A report from the North Carolina state medical examiner has revealed the official cause of death for retired NFL wide receiver Charles Johnson. USA Today managed to obtain a copy of it, which showed that Johnson overdosed from drugs. Officials believe it was a suicide.
