....died in Destin, FL the other day. All indications were a rip tide got him and he never came back up. He was an Arkansas QB in college and played with Tom Brady at New England. I had a 2nd cousin who was a young medical doctor and a beautiful young family in Mississippi. Same thing happened to him while they were in Destin too years ago. Was about 40 years old. He and his family were wading in waist to chest deep water as the waves were breaking hard over them. His wife turned around to look at him and he was gone. His body washed up on shore further down the beach. I read another recent article that 10-12 people have died in rip currents in the Destin to Fort Walton Beach areas. If you vacation there, heed all warnings and watch your family members closely.
