I’ve never understood that character actor tag. I always thought that the true purpose of all acting was to assume the persona of a character other than yourself.

It doesn’t seem fair. I’ve been wisecracking with people all my life, and never made any money from it. However I have been punched in the face and kicked in the nuts on several occasions.

Loved his character in the R Files. My brother and I speak of prolific actors by saying, “he works.” After reading Stuart Margolin’s obits it can certainly be said of him that “he worked.” Big loss.
