"The days of Mississippi State being down seem to be over. The Bulldogs have improved on the field and now they are making strides on the recruiting front. The defensive class so far is special."

It is a welcome change to hear words like this spoken about the program.

In a year from now how will that no.15 ranking be sizing up to the competition? And it should be 14 they got filthy Rutgers ahead of us because Rutgers ahs a whopping 19 commitments already for next year.

I'd rather be ranked than not. I just hope we have better luck getting/keeping them in school.

let me know when the WRs start committing, then it might be time to get more excited.

Edited to say: sorry this is in the wrong spot.

Then when can start talking recruiting rankings. Give all of the other snake oil and used car salesmen a chance to peddle their wares. . . .

In todays B-ham News, they stated that currently 3 out of Saban's National Recruiting Championship "Team" of 2008 will not be making their grades and are getting on the Greyhound to Scooba. In addition to that, the kid out of Mobile will most likely sign a baseball contract. That's over 10% of that class of greatness that won't be there this fall.

We'll know how good they are when they step on the field and go toe to toe with people like LSU. I've been permanantly scarred by the 2000-2001 recruiting classes.

But I will say that I think it's good that we're getting Mississippians to come aboard.

our name is actually being presented in the sports rankings. I haven't seen that in quite some time when it comes to football rankings... but then again don't we always seem to be a let down under the national audience?

Whether some people like it or not, Croom has improved the image of our program.

I'm pretty sure some of our teams in the past- like our 99 team- were "underrated" just out of spite.

I will say that it does look like Croom is getting more talented players in general, and he's learned from his past mistakes like putting all of his eggs in the baskets of people like Jimmy Johns and Kenny Ashley. One thing I do like about Croom is that it seems like our players are improving in general from year to year instead of being at a certain level as a freshman and staying at that level their entire time at MSU.

Yea, I'm guessing that since he oversigned by quite a few that he was planning on losing a few to grades. That's the way it works. He still landed a class that the recruitniks eat up, which is apparently all that matters.

You are right about Coach O's classes. When the final ranking came out after all the non-quals they weren't any higher than us and sometimes lower. And they are still counting Powe over and over every year!

I don't really care about rankings though. Croom has shown that a little talent and a lot of character can win on the field and in life.
