He can be a short yardage guy to take those hits off of Lanorris too.Was a 3* coming out of high school, but had a lot of offers from big-name programs. Hasn't clicked in college. 50% passer, 9/9, TDs/INTs.
At times he looks like he be a dangerous quarterback in a good way. If he can get that going consistently, then all I can say is lookout!!He can be a short yardage guy to take those hits off of Lanorris too.
I watched his HS HUDL video, seems to have a bit of "hitch" in his throwing motion, sometimes he short-arms his throws and doesn't always set his feet. All fixable with the right QB coach. Heck of a pick up.Was a 3* coming out of high school, but had a lot of offers from big-name programs. Hasn't clicked in college. 50% passer, 9/9, TDs/INTs.
He's a 4.7 career YPC guy with 927 yards over 2 seasons. Best Shaw ever did was 3.9 YPC.I watched his HS HUDL video, seems to have a bit of "hitch" in his throwing motion, sometimes he short-arms his throws and doesn't always set his feet. All fixable with the right QB coach. Heck of a pick up.
That's good but he will have to throw at some point, otherwise teams will just load the box. He's a 4.7 career YPC guy with 927 yards over 2 seasons. Best Shaw ever did was 3.9 YPC.

Yeah, if Sellers gets hurt. I'm talking obvious running situations. He's an excellent runner, and excellent at the RPO game...well, the R/O part of that equation. I can see him getting in on those to save some hits on Sellers. Although, seeing how Rattler improved under Logg, I'm hopeful he can work the same kind of magic on Ashford. That's good but he will have to throw at some point, otherwise teams will just load the box.

lol...nah, not this time at least. I'm not trying to make the argument that he's going to be a great QB for us, but there are parts of his game we can utilize even if his passing doesn't improve at all.Well, that's some turd polishing, haha.
Yeah, Ashford's rushing stats in limited action are a bit superior to Shaw's.
However, with a career 50% completion rate and 9 TDs against 9 INTs, Ashford is a one trick pony. Shaw, in addition to having a career 3.7 ypc had a 66% completion rate with 56 TDs against 16 INTs.
Caught a couple of his games in 2022. Watched him almost knock off LSU. Had 350 total yards, most through the air actually. Had a great game against Ark that year. But from what I've seen, he's an impressive runner. What do any of us really know about Ashford? It's not like any of us have followed him.
I agree, I have watched a limited amount of video and his running jumps off the screen. He is a strong runner for a QB.Yeah, if Sellers gets hurt. I'm talking obvious running situations. To be fair, my untrained eye is limited but I know enough from listening QB analyst to know that his motion affects accuracy, and trajectory. He has a strong arm. If he can fix his throwing motion, watch out. Maybe he got away with his motion in HS because of the level of competition but college windows are much smaller. Again, great pick up.
If he's got a 50% completion rate, there is something BAD wrong with his throwing motion. Actually, his one full-season of play he was sub-50%.
Is he throwing the ball with his feet?
That pass was great. Loved hearing him talk about it after the game. Said the coaches told him to look for Nyck. If he's covered, pull it down and run. Nyck was covered, so he looked to the 2nd option on the left, then the middle, then rolled right and saw Russell running wide open down the right side. Russell didn't have to adjust his run at all. Hit him right in stride.(I spit my drink out) The HUDL video I watched, his foot work was not consistent (almost different every time) and from what I can tell it absolutely impacts his motion. Every throw looks slightly different. Sometimes he kind of "T-Rex" his throw. He has a strong arm but that will get a QB into trouble sooner than later. If he can get a QB trainer in the offseason to work on consistency, he might be the steal of the decade. If I was him, I would use my NIL money for that.
Sellers arm motion is much better and I think Sellers arm is stronger (freaking cannon). Seller's pass to Ty Russell was 65 yards in the air, over the shoulder, dropped in the cradle. Reno's throwing motion, velocity, placement, touch is off the charts but I don't think his arm is as strong.
We had one helluva passer last year and it didn't help our run game. Plus, we couldn't protect him. We have to get serious about establishing a run game or Beamer's days are numbered. That's good but he will have to throw at some point, otherwise teams will just load the box.
Agree. I'm excited to see the running game this year with a stacked RB room, a legit dual threat QB, and healthy OL.We had one helluva passer last year and it didn't help our run game. Plus, we couldn't protect him. We have to get serious about establishing a run game or Beamer's days are numbered.
Receivers and running backs are the sails of an effective offense. We had one helluva passer last year and it didn't help our run game. Plus, we couldn't protect him. We have to get serious about establishing a run game or Beamer's days are numbered.
