He's declared he's leaving, but the portal doesn't "officially" open until next Monday does it?
If your coach is canned mid-season, you have a window where you can enter officially. He's declared he's leaving, but the portal doesn't "officially" open until next Monday does it?
I don't think so. I will, however, look back fondly on the Air Raid Era made up of Leach, Rogers and Co., and will always wonder what could have been, not only in 2023, but beyond that, just judging by Leach's past results. Oh well.I believe State fans will appreciate him more over time.
Stat gurus, can we get a list of every State quarterback who won 10+ SEC games?
Correct, he'll be well remembered, especially the further we get away from 2023.I believe State fans will appreciate him more over time.

Has freeze lined up a family to adopt him yet?
No he won’t. Other than the Auburn comeback, any memorable win was in spite of him, not because of him.Correct, he'll be well remembered, especially the further we get away from 2023.
There'll be a couple of message board experts who won't but the fanbase as a whole will.
That was my biggest gripe with Leach. Once Costello got hurt then Abraham transferred in and got hurt, that was it for the big-arm guys and Will had to start because he grasped the offense better than the underclassmen QB's but instead of letting them play in 4 games that were blowouts one way or the other, Leach let Sawyer take about 5 snaps one game and that was it I think.I never understood why Leach refused to give anyone else ANY playing time no matter what the situation and while I can see how that was good for Will's stats I question it's benefit to the program.
When I look at the Mt. Rushmore of MSU QBs, it's Dak, Fitz, Bond, Smith. Rogers is in the group with Sleepy, Taite, Relf, Russell - MAYBE. Those guys spilled their guts for MSU.
I think folks forget about that type stuff over the years, they'll alway see his stats. He'll never be Dak, but i think he can be a popular former player like Boobie. Over time folks forget about the minutia, like vacated wins/titles, bad plays, etc.No he won’t. Other than the Auburn comeback, any memorable win was in spite of him, not because of him.
Rogers played hundreds of snaps in games that were totally under control. When did not having a second team QB with at least a little game experience become a good idea ? Totally different situation from the one with Wright.Leach didn't play anyone else because Leach paid attention at practice and knew who could perform and who could not. Remember back 2 months crying for Mike Wright and then try to remember getting Mike Wright. There is a reason we are on a fan board posting and not on the field coaching. Apply this same logic to deciding which coaches need to be retained. Just let the coach make the decisions
Rogers wasn't a bad QB. If you haven't figured out by now that he was our best option, then I don't know what to tell you. Leach brought in 4 stars Sawyer Robertson, Braden Locke and Chris Parson. And honestly, if Leach was here this year and Rogers had gotten hurt, Locke would have taken his job. That was my biggest gripe with Leach. And that goes back to my gripe about not letting backup QB's get meaningful playing time when they could. While I've heard other people say Locke would have easily beaten out Sawyer, we never got to see either of them really do anything so whichever one would have taken over if Will had gotten injured would have looked like crap.Rogers wasn't a bad QB. Again, it's just a shame that we didn't get to see the Leach Era play out.
Robertson wasn't any good, so yeah, he'd have looked like crap. Locke would have been going into his redshirt freshman season in 2023, and probably would have gotten more playing time. And that goes back to my gripe about not letting backup QB's get meaningful playing time when they could. ETA: I agree with your last sentence 100%.
This is the list of the most pass attempts per game. Which of these schools needs a QB that passes, dinks it, and never runs?

I can't believe someone like Leach would know more about who should start at QB in an Air Raid offense than a few dudes on sixpack.***Leach didn't play anyone else because Leach paid attention at practice and knew who could perform and who could not. Dak was 0-2 in Egg Bowls he started.1-3 in The Battle for the Golden Egg
I know who got the only one this year.I believe State fans will appreciate him more over time.

Its really a shame that Will had to play 1 vs 22 Ole Miss starters. But 1-3 is pretty good 1 on 22.1-3 in The Battle for the Golden Egg
