Just spoke to Romero Osby. He is coming to Summer school and said he could not wait. I almost did not recognize him because he has bulked up. I will ask him how much muscle he has added if I am still here this afternoon when he comes back. He said he did not think Jamont would be back, but that the team would still have a lot of talent and would be fine regardless. He talked about how he could not wait to get to campus and go to football games. Totally a BULLDOG!!!!!

He is far better than that and can flat out Ball.

Romero may be the best big man we have had in a long time.

what seems to be the normal thought process for our power forwards by coming in and trying to prove he can hit the outside shot. With his skill level and athletic ability coupled with the muscle he says he has put on he could be a real compliment to Varnado down low.

I've seen Osby play a couple of times and he looks more promising than any freshman coming in I can remember. He can flat out play.

Osby is not the classic back-to-the-basket big guy that will help Varnado clog the middle. He's a slashing/shooting guy who happens to be 6-8, 220. His outside shot is equal to anybody we had last season and his game should translate just fine. Hopefully, he will continue to bulk up and become a good inside presence.

pretty sure i saw his 3pt FG% as around 29% for his senior year. that isnt good...in case you werent sure. but sadly, that actually was equal to what a lot of our outside shooters managed last season. but just cuz they all couldnt hit **** from the outside doesnt mean we should toss a PF out there and have him match them shot for shot.

let Randy with his slow tempo and long motion, Ravern with his nasty little hitch, Bost, Beckham, Turner with his horrible shot selection, and Benock with his hesitancy to shoot, take the outside shot.
between those 6, i gotta believe we can find at least 2 per night who are interested in actually making a 3pt shot. let Osby play down low and drift up to the high post or something, but we dont need any more mediocre outside shooters at this time.

Romero 'Lebron' Osby.....he will be our Lebron James. We will forget about Charles Rhodes next year.

We will if Gordon goes pro. He was the most mediocre outside shooter we had this year.

i am fully confident in Turner being able to replicate Gordon's patented 'drive down the middle of the court and jack up an NBA 3pt shot before the whole team even makes it down court to rebound the awful shot' shot.

or Beckham, i hear he isnt a good shooter, let him take some of Gordon's shots too.

here is how it can go:
-Bost can have all of Gordon's shots off of penetrating the lane. hopefully in his postgrad year, he made sure to learn how to lay it in with his off-hand, unlike Gordon ever did.
-Turner can have all of Gordon's wild *** forced shots from the perimeter. the contested 3pt shots off the dribble, and the inbounds drive up the court shots i mentioned earlier.
-Beckham can have all of Gordon's shots where he should have stopped at the FT line off the dribble and popped, but instead continued to bull towards the basket and into an offensive charge. hopefully Beckham will know to shoot it at the FT line and just not do the second part.
-Benock can have 10 of Gordon's shots...cuz thats all i predict him actually taking due to being too scared to actually let go of the ball.

Osby is more of a small forward than a power forward.
He should play the 3 for us most of the time.
He can really shoot from outside, just needs to work on his shot selection.

By maybe 1 percentage point. Do you not remember the posts on here that compared the 3 point shooting of Randy, NotreDamesbrough, and Gordon? They all took virtually the same number of 3's and their percentages were within 3-4% of each other?

<17> it, here they are:

Randy 62-186 33%
Hans 62-173 36%
Jamoney 60-188 32%

Yea, technically he was the most "mediocre" by a very slim margin. That's like arguing which one of our QB's "lit it up" last year.

Hell, all we need is a basketball player that shoots 65% from the field, 40% from 3pt, 95% from the line and scores 30 per game. Then, maybe then, MSU basketball would have somebody that the fans would actually support.
