Seems the scuttlebutt going around is that Kingston is out at the end of the season and Scott Jackson currently of nationally ranked Liberty will take over.

TIFWIW.

I keep repeating. Go after the Notre Dame coach.
If we could get him that would be huge. He had a very good team last year that almost went on the road and beat Miss St, the eventually national champions. I would really like to go after a big time coach if things do not work out. As good as Liberty has been recently, there is no reason to not go with a guy at a power 5 level especially a guy like Link Jarrett.

Not to be too dismissive, but what possible incentive could we offer a coach who at present has the #12 ranked team in the country, lost by 1 one run to Miss St in the 2021 regional, and this bears repeating he is the coach at Notre Dame, while we are unquestionably trending downward.

Don't y'all forget, Mark Kingston came from a higher-tier Div. 1 school than did the basketball coach we just hired.

Warmer weather, and the ability to comfortably play at home in February and March. All I can currently think of.

As I replied in another thread, his being hired as AD was based on his working in Athletics Administration both at NCSU and at USC, not because he was a baseball coach.
Even at that, he was only minimally qualified to take over a program in one of college athletics' two monster conferences.

Will not disagree with you, King. Your statement of minimally qualified is a more accurate criticism of the hire, not RT's coaching prowess.

The Tanner stepped away from baseball, SC lost a great baseball coach and gained a mediocre athletic director.
I will repeat my feelings on our current AD. If we are basing our opinions on our AD based on success of our athletic programs, we have had few if any successful AD'S.
I just want our next baseball hire to be a HR.
Best of luck also to our new basketball coach!

None have batted a thousand, but some have been distinctly better than others. Few bat a thousand anyplace.

The importance of baseball at USC, facilities for baseball, etc.
This is true. Not all that long ago, we were probably the premier baseball program in the country.

And don't forget, a prospective coach would only have to displace the women's basketball program, to become the number one sport at the school. There are P5 football schools and there are P5 basketball schools, but how many P5 baseball schools are there? 🤣
