One of the OM sites is reporting that Caleb Reed is looking to get out of his letter or intent with MSU. They said he may have to play a year of juco to get out of it.

This may or may not be news here, but I haven't seen it posted. I also have no idea if this is a big loss or not. Just thought you all may want to know.

I think this would be good news. There is not a signees I really see contributing in the next 2 years. we need all the roster slots we can find.

he may, but the initial reason was he is a big Polk and Raffo guy. I know nothing about whether he is worth a ****
because if he's a Polk and Raffo guy, then there is a 90% chance that he's not worth a ****.

I'm sure he's a good boy who'll make the SEC All-Academic team! Who cares if he can hit or pitch.

/sarcasm

Caleb Reed possibly is the best 2-way player in that group of signess in the fall. He throws low to mid 90's and has a wicked curve ball and change. He also hit around .500 this year. We need him. He can be another Weatherford and we need a closer.

Ya'll have never really seen Caleb Reed play. He is basically unhittable (like Aaron Weatherford). While I do agree that John Cohen needs his own players to mold a winner, he should carefully try to keep Caleb in the fold. I'm telling ya'll, he is the real deal. No other player we signed in the fall is anywhere near as talented and good.

As of last night directly from the source, Caleb Reed is looking forward to joining the MSU Baseball Program. As of a matter of fact...cannot wait. Has talked with Cohen and is excited about him. As one can see from my user name, I hardly ever post, just read; however, I am fairly close to this situation and could not let this wrong rumor go further. Caleb is going to surprise many...as much with hitting if he is allowed as pitching...has hit well against all pitching, even that of just college prospect pitchers at showcase tourneys across the southeast.

yes, he put up awesome numbers, but it was against Academy AA competition. Not to take away anything from his ability, but a legit D-I talent should dominate at that level. However, the SEC is a HUGE step up. For example, Micheal Busby was equally lights out at a similar level of baseball.

That said, I think it would be wise of any player/recruit to give Cohen a chance. Although, Polk has certainly sabotoged that.

pitchers that Polk II brought in that were supposed to dominate: Matt Lea, Jared Holloway, Paul Faulkenberry, John Lalor, Tyler Whitney, Josh Johnson, Forest Moore (too soon to tell I guess but he got the "he'll be in the weekend rotation from day 1" treatment from everyone).......

If this guy throws in the mid 90s and can bat .500 WE NEED HIM....those are pretty impressive numbers. I don't understand when somebody says we don't need that kind of a player...apparently you didn't see our record last year.
