This weekend features Rutgers versus Northwestern. Considering all the bad news surrounding Northwestern, the firing of Pat Fitzgerald and the media sh-et storm that came from it, is this game a must win for them? If they lose badly to Rutgers, would it set the tone for the tanking of the season in 2023? As for Rutgers, they need wins any way they can get them to stay relevant. If they lose to Northwestern, would this be a bad omen for them and the coming season, especially going into next year where a one-win season might be a blessing for them with USC and company coming into the league.

It's a must win for Rutgers. For the long term, Schiano's seat gets super hot if he loses that game. The shine is wearing off. He will be back as DC at PSU when Manny moves on for a big promotion after this season. You have to think the NW administration has given up on football in the short term.

For the record, I'm rooting for NW because RU web fans celebrate Sandusky's crimes daily. NW fans only celebrate child abuse the week before they play us.

I don't know if its a 'must win' but it is certainly 'must watch' tv. Here's a clip from their last epic game:

We are talking about an NU team which is barely able assemble a squad and is not motivated to play. RU has something to play for.

Wifey is a Rutgres grad, so we will watch and I will silently cheer for Northwestern. The Wildcats will be inspired, but that is likely to not be enough, even vs. them Scarlet Knights.
Is Rutgres better this year than last, when they eked out a win over a 'meh' BC team in week 1? Maybe this will be a similar deal?
