In today's B-ham News, I saw a small story about Saban's adm. asst. is in trouble. Apparently, she wrote a letter on U of A stationary to a Judge Charles Robinson, who resides over a small district in mid-Alabama. In the letter, she asked for leniency for a Tommy Borden, a former correctional officer, who was going in front of Judge Robinson. He's being tried for trying to sell weed inside the prison. Borden apparently was a friend of a friend of the asst. to Saban. She is being reprimanded by the school as this is written.

Now, here's the smoking gun. Why would the secretary to the most powerful coach in the Universe(per Forbes) be interested in writing a letter to an Alabama judge, ON "BAMA" LETTERHEAD, to help get a convicted drug dealer off, who is a friend of her friend? Maybe Mr. Borden was selling to more than the convicts and needs a little help, i.e. Jimmy Johns. Hmmmm.

letter, being in Alabama. That's worse than this, well almost. We are talking about the Lord of all Coaches.

I hope this turns into a huge story. I have not seen the story in any other papers in the area.

not suspicious enough. But, probably it is because she never writes personal letters and just puts "writing a letter" together with "using bama stationary" and wasn't thinking. Or she might have thought that it might influence the judge without realizing how bad it is to use the stationary.

I am sure she is thinking now, though.

Not much to it. But then as I sat reading this fish wrapper, it occurred to me that maybe there is more here. Why would an asst. to the most powerful coach in the world be concerned about helping a convicted, but not sentenced, ex-correctional officer. I believe that Bama players have had a drug problem. You can't tell me J. Johns wasn't the only one. Now you have someone who sold drugs in state prisons being convicted of his crime and needs some help and gets it from Nick Saban's secretary. If she was just trying to help, why the disciplinary actions by the university to a longtime employee who made an "honest" mistake. Any correlation? I'm sure it will widely be discussed tonight on Finebaum.

is easily possible that the secretary to the coach has some deadbeat redneck boyfriend that shacks with her when he is not taking money out of her checking account to put new tires on his boat trailer. And perhaps said redneck boyfriend has even more deadbeat friends that deal drugs in prison. Seriously, women are sometimes really stupid about doing things for some loser guy.

OM and Scruggs are widely known. But, wasn't Khayat acting in his official position to be an advocate for possibly the University's largest benefactor? Admittedly, it looks horrible for the University -- the University Chancellor effectively advocating leniency for such a crook clearly because of the contributions to the school.

But, it wasn't a misuse of his position or his authority to use the letterhead.

This lady wrote a personal letter on school letterhead, and possibly was intentionally using her position to influence a personal situation.
