Interesting, there are roughly 750 players in the MLB in any given season. He came in at 116 for this draft class which has a value of $624,800. The draft has 315 players taken with number 315 value being $178,800. I can't understand the math for all that money that gets pushed out, nor can I understand an annual intake of nearly half of your total MLB rostered players. I realize they don't all make it, but that just seems like a lot.
Related to the money aspect, if companies ever start demanding a tangible, measurable, return on their marketing funds, I suspect that pro sports would take a huge hit as media contracts got cut substantially when companies realized that their advertising dollars didn't do much for them, or at least could not be quantified.
