Honestly before that. HIs fastball has been flat all season. Teams hit him hard, but we had the offense that no one noticed it. I don't think sitting out Summer and Fall helped at all.from the FL series has gone missing!
Flat and up in the strike zone. His motion is not smooth at all and sabotages his control. He is throwing rather than pitching.Honestly before that. HIs fastball has been flat all season. EXACTLY! His breaking stuff has been servicable this season, but obviously he's not Greg Maddux and can't rely on it all game.Flat and up in the strike zone. His motion is not smooth at all and sabotages his control. He is throwing rather than pitching.
Nice analogyFlat and up in the strike zone. His motion is not smooth at all and sabotages his control. He is throwing rather than pitching.
Your thoughts on moving Hicks to Friday. Sanders long relief/bullpen.Honestly before that. HIs fastball has been flat all season. Teams hit him hard, but we had the offense that no one noticed it. I don't think sitting out Summer and Fall helped at all.
First and foremost we need to stop this waiting to send guys to the bullpen. There is absolutely no reason why the bullpen is empty at the beginning of a game.Your thoughts on moving Hicks to Friday. Sanders long relief/bullpen.
Of course, I'm not claiming to be a pitching coach. But something needs to be fixed before regionals.
Couldn't agree more and I don't understand the reasoning or any advantage to not having your bullpen ready from the start.First and foremost we need to stop this waiting to send guys to the bullpen. There is absolutely no reason why the bullpen is empty at the beginning of a game.
As for Hicks on Friday, what could it hurt at this point. But again, start each and every game with the bullpen full so when the starter clearly doesn't have it we aren't waiting to send guys down in the 3rd/4th when it's too late to stop the bleeding.
Mahoney is chunking the ball all over the place, Moose would have problems catching some of his pitches IMOCouldn't agree more and I don't understand the reasoning or any advantage to not having your bullpen ready from the start.
Why not give a pitcher like Hicks the opportunity to step up as we have with position players?
It's also obvious our defense suffers when Messina is not behind the plate.
Man, I am on the fence on all of the above except for we miss messina behind the plate badly, I’ve lost count on pass balls here in game 2 kentucy, but mahoney hasn’t looked so great today as well! I watched game 2 auburn from above the bullpen it does take those guys a while to get ready , but they don’t need to be throwing in inning one! I think it’s nice to have them in the dugout until you see the need to get them loose, I mean if I’m on the mound i don’t want to see somebody throwing in the pen! The call on Sanders starting is another story, i don’t think we wouldn’t be starting him on friday if he wasn’t our best option, too much on the line!Couldn't agree more and I don't understand the reasoning or any advantage to not having your bullpen ready from the start.

Injuries definitely taking it's toll - we were able to hold the line for a while but it has caught up with us.We could have Kentucky shut out right now with decent pitching and fielding. Until we get our normal players back, were just average at best. Our defense has fallen apart.
That must be it.We don't play well on artificial grass and fake dirt.
Never mind - they must have known it would't have made a difference. Not making a play on a pop up foul ball costs us 3 runs! I think SS or LF should have sold out to make a play there!
Sad but true!Dang. They gave us the benefit of the doubt last week.
We're gonna fall 10 spots on Monday.
We're going to drop from national seed talk.
With our current starting pitching situation we will have trouble in the regional....National seed or top 16Dang. They gave us the benefit of the doubt last week.

No one is saying they need to be throwing in the bullpen in inning one, but what the hell does it hurt to at least have them in there, just in case. If a starter is that rattled by guys being in the pen at the start of a game, then maybe, just maybe, he shouldn't be a starter. It never bothered Michael Roth et al.Man, I am on the fence on all of the above except for we miss messina behind the plate badly, I’ve lost count on pass balls here in game 2 kentucy, but mahoney hasn’t looked so great today as well! Reminds me of Dietzel's "Carpet the Cockpit" campaign. For information only. Watch a MLB game and you will not see one MLB team with artificial grass and fake dirt. I was at the regionals two years ago and was waiting outside for admission to the second game. Met a gentleman who was MLB scout and was scouting the pitcher for UVA. We got to talking and the subject of artificial grass and fake dirt came up. He told me that not one MLB team plays on artificial grass or fake dirt. He said with all the money these SEC schools get there is not excuse for not playing on real grass and real dirt. He said Vanderbilt has an unbelievable endowment, UK has tremendous amount of money that comes not only from football but basketball generates a ton of money. So glad Ray Tanner and the administration has not gone to the fake grass and fake dirt at our baseball stadium, and fake grass at our other athletici facilities. Ray told me when I was at a girls softball game that USC would never put in fake grass or fake dirt in our athletic facilities. USC learned their lesson from before when they had artificial turf at Williams Brice Stadium. So many players got hurt. Thank goodness they put the real grass back in Williams Brice Stadium. Tennessee did the same at Neyland Stadium. They used to have artificial turf. Got so many injuries and complaints that they returned to real grass.
Certainly not all of it but my commitment stands. That must be it.
Even the Tanner detractors ought to give him credit on that decision. Ah. Forget it. Not gonna happen. The detractors won’t give an inch on anything putting the AD in a positive light. For information only. Watch a MLB game and you will not see one MLB team with artificial grass and fake dirt. I agree.Anyone thinking he's done for year? I'm thinking yes.
