The SEC will make a strong play for ND (or already is, depending on your source). It's long been assumed that ND to the Big Ten was an unavoidable reality, but that thinking was based on geography and traditional matchups, none of which are relevant in college football any longer. Take geography and tradition out of the picture and it's suddenly a wild card.
At that point the geographically oriented conference names make no sense. They should be in the yet to be formed Midwest Conference, or rename the SEC the Delta Quadrant Conference.

What good is a conference if half the schools in the country are part of it?
At some point, and we are past it already, enough is enough.
Geographical parameters have been sold out to the almighty dollar.
College sport has lost what made it fun, unfortunately.

Indiana shares a border with Kentucky. That's all the contiguity you need. If that were to happen, at least all the states in our conference would touch another conference state somewhere. The Big 10 can't say that.

If memory serves (after 2024) Mississippi and Louisiana will not be touching another P5 conference. I'm assuming you meant P5 conferences.

All I'm saying is that, even if an Indiana school were admitted to the SEC, that school would be in a state which shares a border with another SEC state.
