we were planning a business trip to SC, and was really surprised at some of the motel/hotel rates in the area. These were mid-week in March, which doesn't seem like anything in the area would be creating the rates to be higher. Compared to recent trips to metro Indy, Youngstown, Midland, Mich and Grand Rapids Mich, the rates were much higher for similar motels/chains.

It has been over 15 years since we have been to SC, but I do not remember the rates to be so much higher than other places.

What area?

Regardless, keep in mind that southern charm and hospitality doesn’t come cheap.

Think he means state college.

but to respond to original post inflation has been crazy for the last two years and prices still going up. So the off season dips aren’t happening as much anymore.

Not sure what dates in March you are planning but the Gamble Mill in Bellefonte now has what look to be very cool rooms - note that some are two bedroom suites. Rates don’t seem too bad either. Also love the two bars they have there now.

Went to the basketball game over Christmas break and stayed at whatever the hotel is next to Hickey‘s beer distributor. Total cost for the night was about 100 bucks. Had the kids so we made sure that it was a place with the pool open if that’s anything you’re looking for
