Per Morosi & Rosenthal. I know Max isn’t what he once was, but give the Mets credit for making moves..

They have made several moves the last few days. They signed Canha and Marte from the A's. Also signed Escobar from the Brewers.

Yea but "not what he once was" Max is still better than a huge percentage of pitchers.....

And them letting Matz go after seeing what he signed for looks smart now

That’s a lot of $$ to spend to finish 3rd in the division once again.

If there is one ace in the division the Braves don’t sweat over, it’s Scherzer.

I'm just dreaming about a healthy soroka to go with fried and Morton. That would be one hell of a top 3

Wonder how many years. deGrom and max could be really nasty

The rumor right now is three years at 42M per. Maybe a 4th year option.

Scherzer is great, but that's a crazy contract for a 37 year old.

The new owner of the Mets is the richest owner in sports by a wide margin....and he's a huge fan on top of it. He's committed to spending and doesn't care about a luxury tax. That's gonna make things interesting and force everyone else in the division to step up their spending game.

That's too long. There's a reason why a smart team like dodgers aren't doing that

It's idiotic. They may get one or maybe two good seasons from him - and maybe that plus deGrom plus their roster upgrades are good enough. But it's crazy, especially when you consider that deGrom has a lot of question marks around his arm, and he's due to be a FA soon.

You could see their top two pitchers spending significant time on the shelf with a ton of money tied up in them. It's a recipe for disaster if things don't go perfectly. A lot of things have to go right, and the Mets aren't the kind of franchise that is used to seeing things go right for them.

Scherzer’s arm was dead in the NLCS. Granted that’s after a long season, but he ain’t the same pitcher he once was. As a Braves fan, I’m hoping that all this spending by the Mets blows up in their face.

They haven't gotten crazy yet. Scherzer's contract is ridiculous, to be sure. But the Mets let Conforto walk, didn't put up a fight to keep Syndergaard, are going to let Stroman and probably Baez walk, and they will be active on the trade market. They're not quite spending like drunken sailors yet. They may not even exceed the luxury tax next year.

Steve Cohen is the richest owner in baseball, but Steve Ballmer (LA Clippers) would jump out of a Gulfstream jet if he woke up and only had Cohen's $.
