Wow, I thought Nebraska would wait 3 weeks when his buyout is cut in half.
Firings now happening in September. What a world we live in.

I'm with you. They play OU this weekend and then the next week is a Bye, which takes you up to 10/1.I don't think waiting 3 weeks would have changed anything, and would have saved them money.
But this guy was a dead man walking, the move needed to be made.
Now I begin to wonder what Nebraska will do. Watched a story on them pregame one week about how their usual recruiting areas dried up with the conference move, and how their "brand" doesn't sell with kids who are too young to remember Nebraska being good at football.
A bog challenge for N0ebraska is that the state has a small population, under 2 million. There isn't much "homegrown" talent to get and they have to recruit against the traditional B1G programs now. They used to get a lot of talent out of Texas when they were in the Big 12 and had traditional rivalries with Texas and OU. Now, they have to recruit against tOSU, Iowa, ND, Michigan, etc. and there is no real traditional rivalry to play on. Lincoln isn't exactly an appealing location to recruit to either.I'm with you. With that said, a symbolic move needed to be made.
If Trev Alberts was smart, he should go out and look for someone to model the program after Iowa/Wisky, and get some big homegrown boys to man the OL/DL's, pick up some skill players, and win the usual 8-9 games a year, and once in a while a 10-11 season. Most would be happy with that.
If Frost couldn't, I suspect no one can. Frost will make a great OC for some school then be head coach somewhere 3-4 years from now.I'd hate to try and bring that program back.
In the old days, they went wherever to get players. They got those Glover boys out of New Jersey and Tommy Frazier out of Bradenton, Fl.A bog challenge for N0ebraska is that the state has a small population, under 2 million. On paper NU-Frost seemed like the ultimate hire.If Frost couldn't, I suspect no one can. Frost will make a great OC for some school then be head coach somewhere 3-4 years from now.
That guy at Marshall. He has to move up.Scott Frost is why you don't just back the brinks truck up to Chadwell's house. Not that Chadwell might not be a great Power 5 coach - but nothing is close to guaranteed. And most "can't miss" candidates actually end up at misses.

If he wants it. There's something to be said for building and maintaining a great program at any FBS school. Of course, most of them have a hard time resisting the allure of the Big Time and the money it brings. But the truth is, a person who could do 20 years at a place like Marshall or APP State would retire a very affluent man.Oh for sure. Saban tree, winning at ND with Marshall - Power 5 job next year for sure.
Yes, or he could just go to a P5 school for 5 years and get a 15 million buy out.If he wants it. There's something to be said for building and maintaining a great program at any FBS school. I think it's possible that a guy that gets a good situation in a great community would be tempted to stick.Yes, or he could just go to a P5 school for 5 years and get a 15 million buy out.
Maybe he'll be Carolina's OC next year. We can dream. If Frost couldn't, I suspect no one can. Frost will make a great OC for some school then be head coach somewhere 3-4 years from now.
Or he enrolls as "an analyst" in the Lou Saban Fired Coaches Rehab CenterScott Frost next OC at Alabama?
