did you see improvement in his second season with MY offense? his stats were decent - if you adjust the 4 drops (the 5th drop was a DA pass) his % completion was similar. 4 TD passes was certainly great, and the game winning drive one of the all time PSU stories. The one area that did not look different to me is his comfort in the pocket. The OL did seem slightly better pass blocking. Until DA came in for a series, there was not much to compare this to. DA actually looked more poised in the pocket, which should not be the case. SC results were still pretty darn good.

Did you adjust each year’s stats for drops? Gotta say I’m not a big fan of “if you take away the good (bad) then what you have left is bad (good)” analysis method. Oh, and one game as a good sample? Let’s see how it looks with more data …

I'm interested in seeing how Clifford looks fully healthy. A healthy Clifford has little difficulty running the offense at a high level, and i thought the higher familiarity of the schemes and plays for everyone in the offense was noticeably better than last year. I noticed Clifford didn't run as much. I don't know if that was by design or physical limitations, but I prefer he doesn't run and stays fresher with fewer hits - let the running backs shoulder that load. I will be interested in seeing if the offensive rythym improves - they looked a little disjointed at times. Again, I wonder if Clifford's health issued played into that.

I always say, take away the battle of Gettysburg and we’d all be whistling Dixie

Allar look much calmer in the pocket and actually stepped up into throwing lanes. Clifford keeps dropping back and makes many throws off his back foot.

And, the problem I have with Clifford is the fact that all 4 years of starting, he’s thrown a lot off his back foot. How have those mechanics not been corrected.
Makes me scratch where it doesn’t itch.

I thought he looked pretty good in the 1st half. The 2nd half looked pretty bad, but I'm guessing he was still fighting leg cramps. He seemed to recover the last couple of possessions and was great on the touchdown drive.

Maybe Yurcich should bring Jay to consultant on the Spread HD. The offense needs some tempo.
