Big loss for 247. Curious as to where he'll go next...
I don't know what he was like once he left 247 but I liked him while he was here.
Is 247 in trouble?
I was wondering how much longer the old BWI site was going to be around. I lurked over there the other day and well, might as well change the name to Laschout.
I know when we first started on this site Ryan or Nate mentioned that there's going to be some staff additions coming so it would be great to see him here.I don't know what he was like once he left 247 but I liked him while he was here.

247 is owned by CBS itself but you never know how things work out with TV deals going on with constant change he came hereI don't know what he was like once he left 247 but I liked him while he was here.

When Sean initially left BWI I was concerned that the site would have a very hard time replacing him. Obviously, I was wrong (which is not to slight Sean --- he is one of the very best). Phil has hired exceptionally well, and the quality and breadth of the content continued, and continues now on this site, to be excellent (and just gets better and better).I don't know what he was like once he left 247 but I liked him while he was here.

Agree. I didn't post or lurk on 247 but I liked his podcasts.Always enjoyed his podcast, would be great to see him come over to BWI to work with all the guys here and do some podcasts with the crew. The bwi podcast is a near daily listen for me.
I left when Fight on State merged with Fitz. I found him to be a little condescending, so I dropped the payments and realized I pretty much get the same information here (and from the here, before this here was here). I believe I am in a vast minority in that opinion though.
I found him to be more along the lines of feeling like people should appreciate whatever he wanted to share with them and not question him about it. Again though, judging by the opinions of many others, I may have just read him wrong. For whatever reason, he's like a lot of Penn State journalists, in that they appear (but maybe aren't at heart) to be detached from Penn State as a fan. Which as a journalist, I get, but I'd still like to see some 'rah rah' stuff every now and then. That is a problem here too IMO, but /shrug.
A decade. Youngster.I think the recruiting/HS sports information market is a) oversaturated, and b) mostly unnecessary (since recruits interact directly with fans for the most part on social media). I think that's why you're seeing a lot of effort going into podcasts (which are great IMO) and other content areas (like NIL valuations on this site). I also think younger fans just don't care about this stuff. I'd love to know who the youngest person is on this site and when they joined. 90% of us have been here at least a decade...
I'll add the PSU recruiting/message board community is not big enough to sustain three sites. BWI in it's prime had hundreds (might be thousands; recall Henne's announcement had a ton on...) of folks logged on to read committment announcements in real time. Used to love reading updates from whichever writers were driving to the HS (and they would post where they were grabbing lunch, what the crowd was doing, etc.)....
Sigh.

Youngster!I said most - been here (this format) since 2004 and PlotIt before.
That site is a dumpster fire and thankfully most of the sh!tty ones stayed there. I'm all for them not migrating anywhere else to be honest. I imagine Fitz has something in his back pocket but won't announce it until after his last day. He and Ryan to me do a great job with getting the info out minus any theatrics.I don't know what he was like once he left 247 but I liked him while he was here.

I enjoy lions 247 podcasts. Good to plug into a couple of times a week while I take my lunchtime walks. They definitely do their homework on recruiting….Totally agree about the other site. Went for some wrestling news the other day. Read one of the threads (Beard transfer I believe) and it didn’t take long for a fight to break out. I quickly lost interest. That site is a dumpster fire and thankfully most of the sh!tty ones stayed there. I'm all for them not migrating anywhere else to be honest. This board is not much better, and there are a lot of $hitty posters on this board too. That site is a dumpster fire and thankfully most of the sh!tty ones stayed there. Only a few IMO. Easy to ignore. This board is not much better, and there are a lot of $hitty posters on this board too.
+1. I don't agree at all with that posters take on this board compared to the "old" board. If no one believes me just wander over and lurk for 30 seconds, thats all it will take.Only a few IMO. Easy to ignore.
