SEC Network - just showed the hypothetical 12 team CFP

I thought that the top 4 spots went to the top 4 seeded teams. However it was the top 4 ranked conference champs, so you have some lower ranked teams getting top 4 spots. So in this hypo, it had Utah and Clemson in top 4. At 11, we were playing tOSU and they would be the home team. Not sure why they didn't go with the same top 4 as we have now.

I assumed that the conf championships are going to end due to the schedule, time and # games.

Not a chance, they are worth of lot of money for the individual conferences.

The nice thing about the setup is that it does give an extra emphasis to winning the CCG (unlike some time like TCU this year where they can lose and not really be any worse off in regards to the CFP). Also a team like Notre Dame can’t get a bye.
