Some of our fans were downright salivating over taking Jefferson from the portal, even at the risk of losing Sellers.

Turns out we made the right call. So far at UCF this year, Jefferson is hitting on 59.3% of his passes for 1,012 yards, 7 TD and 4 INT. He's rushed the ball 61 times for 193 yards.

Sellers is hitting on 65.2% of his passes for 2,110 yards, 17 TDs and 6 INT. He has rushed the ball 139 times for 489 yards.

I said at the time that I would be ok with it ONLY if it's because the coaches thought Sellers wasn't close to being ready and would benefit from another year of seasoning AND if Sellers were on board with it and committed to staying here. Aside from that narrow exception, I was not in favor of pursuing a one-year fix in the portal at the expense of our QB of the future.
