Yes.Didn't Nick Singleton already have a deal with West Shore Home?
How about a casino? Asking for a friend....So, just a question.....are their any limits to what the players can be aligned with? For instance, are they not allowed to align with any entity that sells alcohol, (like a distributorship/liquor store), weed (assuming it's legal in Pa), or any other controlled substance?
Yes, there are limits. Your standard stuff that would be in a pro CBA. No gambling, drugs, alcohol, porn etc.So, just a question.....are their any limits to what the players can be aligned with? "college" football- lol
Jay's role in SWH was unclear. He was not one of the original founders, despite reports otherwise, though he was brought on board shortly thereafter for no apparent reason other than name recognition. He had no executive function. That was contracted out to SANIL. Jay was not the person to talk to if there was a problem with SWH. That would have been Ira Lubert, or one of the other directors, some, if not all, of whom reside in the State College area.Good stuff. Listening to the Short interview and no idea how legit everything is, but he does say he ‘can’t say’ a lot about the current alumni elected trustees actively working to undermine football. We know who he means and we have some proof - voted against spending, derailing NIL talks with Shrews, etc. But what else is there? He said they have never met with Franklin. Seems odd to be in the NiL space and be on the BOT and have never met the single most important employee at the university….

Appears that the directors were not pleased with SANIL's performance (why they expected to be is almost beyond comprehension, though I do give them credit for trying when almost no one else was) and has replaced them with a team dedicated to PSU. Wish them luck.
Thanks. I'm putting together the pieces of the puzzle as best as I can, though I'm sure I'm missing more than a few. One of the ironies of all of this is guess who runs ND's basketball NIL collective? SANIL.Thanks GR. You continue to be undefeated in this forum.

Gets even better. When I tried to give the website for ND's collective, Irish United, a look see, I got the message "Error establishing a database connection." Probably nothing, but it actually may be good news for them.
@hohmadw1978 could explain thoroughly but I understand if he wouldn't want to on this board. His stuff on the pay site is worth the money.Thanks. Listen, I get the SANIL failed; that came as no surprise to me. But to put that on Jay, someone will have to outline what Jay's responsibilities were and how he failed to fulfill them. Short of that, I'm not particularly interested.@hohmadw1978 could explain thoroughly but I understand if he wouldn't want to on this board. His stuff on the pay site is worth the money.
Just out of curiosity, and, I honestly don’t know, but why did Jay decide it was necessary to come to SWH’s defense in the Shrewsberry fiasco and make it sound like he had inside info?Jay's role in SWH was unclear. As an anonymous dude on a message board, I'm never looking to throw anyone under the bus and ruin their reputation or their livelihood. I'm not putting anything on Jay, and I truly believe everyone involved has what THEY think are the best intentions for the University.Listen, I get the SANIL failed; that came as no surprise to me. The SWH stories are something else. That is all.

As Art said, I believe no BOT members are currently involved with a collective. The issue seemed to be about how the collectives should be run the "Penn State way". It appears to be working it's way towards a resolution, especially with the news announced today.Do our BOT sign any kind of conflict of interest disclosure forms? Seems like the answer is....

I don't know either. My timeline is far from perfect. Believe that Jay made his statement when SWH was in the process of reorganizing, if not near completion.Just out of curiosity, and, I honestly don’t know, but why did Jay decide it was necessary to come to SWH’s defense in the Shrewsberry fiasco and make it sound like he had inside info?
Was the Jay the one on the call with Shrews? I thought it was Lubrano? I thought Jay's comments were limited to social media...?
That doesn't surprise me knowing the guy who ran SANIL, which managed SWH in its original incarnation. As an anonymous dude on a message board, I'm never looking to throw anyone under the bus and ruin their reputation or their livelihood. 10 bucks for a glimpse my man. The guys that donate and your answers are there. Less than a double quarter pounder meal if you really want to know. When they put seven figure in quotes, it raises a lot of questions. How firm is this commitment, is it tied to getting certain personnel before contributions are made, is it the absolute max amount with lower amounts more realistic, is it revocable, how many years is the contribution spread over, what happens if business slows, etc. Right now this looks like a release who's main purpose is to generate a headline. After all this time this looks disappointing. For all of Franklin and others' complaining, what have they been doing these past few years? They seem like they put an inordinate amount of energy into long term facilities that they cannot raise money for, and ignored the importance of the new immediate problem that should have been and still is more important to recruits, and takes a lot fewer resources. Now, you can argue Franklin can't technically call the shots, but where is the close coordination and "suggestions?" When the starting qb was hawking subs for small time Macclanahans, did that not raise an eyebrow? What is being done to cultivate new donors? State College doesn't exactly strike me as big enough to support large numbers of donors or a sufficient number of big enough donors. Where are the MBNA's, the regional beverage distributors, heck maybe even a large car dealership chain that has reach beyond parochial little State College? Where are the companies with fairly large marketing budgets? To my untrained eye that looks like the sandbox a successful NIL needs to be playing in.
Continuing on the donations topic, I remain astonished at how poorly fundraising has been since 2011. I really thought it would have rebounded by now, but the damage done appears to be worse than I could have possibly imagined. That doesn't just affect facilities, that affects NIL. Can PSU even recapture all that goodwill they pissed away? Is PSU's name too tarnished or still too toxic? I hear a lot of whining and bitching from PSU representatives, but do they even fully recognize and grasp the challenges/problems? I'm not convinced they do, and until I see some recognition of the problems I remain highly skeptical that true success will be achieved.
For these guys, yes.Does NIL mean names on the jerseys?
it seems like these organizations would need to have all the same skill as a sports management organization that matches players to marketing and advertising deals - where most of the money comes from. that matching and contract work seems to be the key skill for success.I don't know either. My timeline is far from perfect. Believe that Jay made his statement when SWH was in the process of reorganizing, if not near completion.
I have even less of a sense of when the call involving Shrewsberry took place.
It was Lubrano.

Understand that there are, to the best of my knowledge, three:
1. We Are....... of which I know zipola.
2. Lion's Legacy Club- run by Michael Mauti, which closed the deal made public today.
3. Success With Honor- the subject of all of the teeth-gnashing. It is now run by Kerry Small, a PSU alum. He's put together a team dedicated to doing NIL deals exclusively for PSU
