anything about McCardell from practice? I saw he had 2 sacks in the scrimmage - I had high hopes he would make an impact this year. Coach keeps mentioning Sean Ferguson in his reports - I figured McCardell would be the better of the two.
Everybody seems to be rather quite on a few people. Not much has been said about him, Co-eric, elliot/bonner, and a few others. Hopefully this isnt a bad sign.
Edited to say: Also, whats up on the Oneal wilder front. He was all talk coming in and now i havent heard a thing from any of the coaches about him.
He will play on the D-line this year. I remember reading about this guy during his recruitment. He was called a "late bloomer" and is a freak of an athlete. I think I read somewhere where he ran track in high school. Texas offered him like a week before signing day. He's out of Beaumont, Texas. My boss is from Beaumont and played at that same high school. He's a huge Longhorns fan and told me, "If Texas offered that kid out of Beaumont, he'll be a big time player for MSU." Meaning that school and area puts out tons of talent and if Texas comes out of a kid in that location late, he's obviously got tons of potential. </p>
I noticed that he came to camp pretty lite. The roster has him listed at 218 lbs. When we signed him back in Feb, both Scout & Rivals had him listed at 220 lbs, so I was expecting him show up closer to 230. I'm not sure how much playing time a 218lb defensive end will get in the SEC.
range a couple of years ago? Moss? How much did he weigh? Seems like he was in the 220's while he was at UF. I do generally agree that it is a disadvantage to be under 250 at DE in the SEC.
McCardell will be really good eventually but it will take him some time. He will probably redshirt to bulk up and he hasn't played a whole lot of football up to this point and still needs alot of work on his technique.
