Shaping up to be a wild and hairy finish in the SEC

Coming down the stretch, the SEC has UT, Bama, us, Auburn, UF and Kentucky all battling it out for the top 4 seeds.

Kentucky and Auburn look, to have the easiest paths as UK finish out with Arkansas, Vandy, and UT. Auburn has the easiest by far with MSU, Mizzou and UGA.

Then it gets hairy.

Tennessee finishes with Bama, us and UK, the toughest draw of all.

Bama finishes with UT, UF and Arkansas.

We finish with UF, UT and MSU.

UF finishes with us, Bama and Vandy.

I'd say you'll most likely have UT and Bama in. They are both sitting at 12-3 and it's hard to imagine them losing more than a game or two down the stretch. I think Auburn gets in, assuming they win their last 3 easily. I don't see any of them finishing with more than 5 losses.

UK is already sitting on 5 losses and finishes @ UT, who is playing great right now. I'm gonna guess that loss #6 for them to push them out.

UF is also sitting on 5 losses. They have not been very good on the road this year, and play us at CLA. Then have Bama at home. I think our game against them could be for that last spot. If we win, that gives them 6 losses, along with UK. Assuming we lose to UT for our 5th loss, we then finish at MSU. Win that and I think that would seal it up. If we lost, we'd end up with a 3-way log jam of teams with 12-6 records, between us, UK and UF, but we would have beaten both UK and UF.. Of course, if Bama beats UF, that knocks them out with 7 losses.

So, yeah, our game against UF is enormous. I don't think a win necessarily locks up a top 4 spot. UK could upset UT and we could lose to UT and MSU.

Who knows...there's a million ways this could play out for that last spot. We could finish anywhere from #1-#7.

That’s a really good analysis. Sure is nice to even be discussing it!

I agree about our game vs Florida, too. Of course the more you win, they are all huge. But that may be the key.

Getting UF and UT at home is huge. I'd love to have another SEC regular season championship. Aside from needing Bama to lose 2, we control our destiny. And Bama has UT and @ UF left. They could easily lose both. If they do, and we win out, we'll be the #1 see in the SEC tourny, and get to hang a banner. How freaking crazy would that be??

Also, just linking this for the "he hasn't done anything to get a raise" crowd. Eat it.

If we win out, we only need Bama to lose 1. The conference does not implement tie breakers for regular season title. We'd be co-champions with them and/or anyone else tied for best record

I don’t think anyone on here has said he hasn’t done anything to earn a raise.

I know that. But who gets #1 seed in that scenario? I think that's where the tie breaker comes in. But could be wrong.

I'd rather not be co-champs though. I want the only banner!

I don’t really think winning out is an option, not with how Tennessee is playing right now. They are next level at the moment.

I don't agree with that. When we played them they were coming off of a 20 point win against Bama and a 19 point win against UF. They're the same team they were then. In their last 6 games they've played 4 of the bottom 5 teams in the league, and AU.

I certainly hope you’re right.

We were also playing much better at the time.
