Eh maybe. He lost to Bowling Green and didn't beat Miami as much as Cristobal made a seriously dumb decision.I'd rather have Brent Key at Georgia Tech. He's done a lot with a little this year, has SEC experience, fairly young, etc.
Have you looked at this record from 2016-2021?Willie Fritz seems like a good fit for MS--proven winner, good eye for talent, knows how to build a program
I’m always very wary of hiring a guy who has had just one good season, or in Key’s case, one mediocre season. Any coach can hit the lottery one season and have a good season. Hell, Croom had one good season at State and he was terrible. I would be looking for a coach with multiple seasons of success, preferably at multiple schools. Jamey Chadwell comes to mind as well as Lance Liepold. Don’t know if we can afford them, though.I'd rather have Brent Key at Georgia Tech. He's done a lot with a little this year, has SEC experience, fairly young, etc.
He has given no indication he wants to leave ISU, and every indication he intends to stay. Yes that could all be coach speak, but its been pretty convincing so far.Be in the conversation, could we afford him, and could he be coaxed to Starkville?
Uh, you might wanna Google that.Eh maybe. He lost to Bowling Green and didn't beat Miami as much as Cristobal made a seriously dumb decision.
He's 51-46 at Tulane and has had only 2 good seasons in 8. When this group of players moves on, he'll probably be right back to 6-win seasons. We can do better. A LOT better.Willie Fritz seems like a good fit for MS--proven winner, good eye for talent, knows how to build a program
Lot of people have the same delusions about hiring a coach as they had about winning 10 games with a completely new, inexperienced coaching staff.Matt Campbell, Brent Key, Lance Liepold......none of them would come to MSU.
hell noBe in the conversation, could we afford him, and could he be coaxed to Starkville?
we're talking Tulane. He's worked a miracle there. He's 51-46 at Tulane and has had only 2 good seasons in 8. When this group of players moves on, he'll probably be right back to 6-win seasons. We can do better. A LOT better.
I liked fritz a lot more when we hired Moorhead. He's got to Tulane up right now. In 21 they only won 2 games. That was weird. Big time at Blinn. Sam Houston. Georgia southern. Built Tulane similar to the way Mullen rebuilt us. Got them bowling again regularly. Then big year followed by the way down year followed by their great year last year and having a decent year this yearWillie Fritz seems like a good fit for MS--proven winner, good eye for talent, knows how to build a program
That's my short listI’d rather have Leipold at KU, but I’m not optimistic he’d make a move.
If you want someone with P5 HC experience, Dan Mullen might be your guy along with Herman and Malzahn.
What qualifications do you think he has to be even a coordinator at the college level? So is that a knee jerk response patdog?
Tell me what he doesn't have since you know so much about him? What qualifications do you think he has to be even a coordinator at the college level?
You must have been bunk mates with him at state.Tell me what he doesn't have since you know so much about him?
Sorry. I thought you were joking. Didn’t realize you seriously wanted to hire a career special teams coordinator who has failed miserably when he had more responsibilities. So is that a knee jerk response patdog?
So, we’re in a situation so dire that we are literally talking about firing our head coach in Year 1. Yet somehow, we have a precious few individuals who somehow can come up with candidates that would make things even worse. Incredible. This is a special fanbase to be a part of.Joe Judge deserves a look and anyone who says no as a knee jerk has not looked at his resume and experience as well as who he has learned under. The giants stint is not a fair assessment secondary to injury and him being saddled with a QB and a OC from an inept GM
Exactly how is Gus or Rich Rod a retread, but Judge isn’t? Except they both actually had success as a head coach & have vastly more experience in the college game. Neither is in my top 3, or probably even too 5. But either would be a much better hire than Judge. So my question is what do you want from a head coach, hasn't our current situation shown that it's about the ability of a head coach to lead? Pick his coordinators, just an fyi, he didn't pick Garrett as his OC it was forced on him by the GM. So if Joe would show up and bring in a dynamic OC and a proven DC you're telling me that would not be an improvement? Who would argue our biggest problem right now is on the coordinator side and a HC that is completely unable to be on a big stage? Last I checked Starkville doesn't have the pressure of the big apple. Again we all have our rights to opinions and as soon as y'all put up your picks I will shoot them down because I would rather not retread a Gus or a Rich Rod, again if the OC or DC was worth a damn we wouldn't even be having this conversation.
You're correct a 58 yo and a 60 yo vs a 41 year old who has recruited in college under Saban specifically Atlanta area and has young children a senior in high school right now so you're right he is way out of touch with 18 yo recruits.Exactly how is Gus or Rich Rod a retread, but Judge isn’t? He should have gone through the Saban car wash if he wanted a career in the college game.Joe Judge deserves a look and anyone who says no as a knee jerk has not looked at his resume and experience as well as who he has learned under. No need to google it, I watched it. All Miami had to do was victory formation and they ran the ball and fumbled.Uh, you might wanna Google that.

You’re discounting the effort GT had to exhibit to drive down the field and score in a small timeframe in an unfriendly environment. It’s not like that only had to run a QB sneak to win.No need to google it, I watched it. All Miami had to do was victory formation and they ran the ball and fumbled.
More like Miami’s defense blew a coverage and left a guy wide open probably because they were shocked they even had to be on the field because Miami literally just had to take a knee to run the clock out. It was 99% Miami blowing it and 1% Georgia Tech’s effort. You’re discounting the effort GT had to exhibit to drive down the field and score in a small timeframe in an unfriendly environment.
