Should the Grizzlies take OJ Mayo if he is there at 5?

I am saying yes. The guy has the potential to be a hell of a player in the league and he and Connely could make for a hell of a backcourt for years to come

If I were them I'd jump at the chance to get Mayo that late... I think Beasley is going to be a bust... I just see all attitude without the game to back it up...

so a guy who as a FRESHMAN had 28 double-doubles, the most in the history of the NCAA's by 6 over Carmelo Anthony, and repeatedly had huge games on the biggest stages doesn't have the game to back up his attitude? Are you just not a big Sponge Bob fan?

Your and idiot, dubmass. Every interview Michael Beasley gave this year he came off as well-spoken and humble. Never seemed to pat himself on the back.

OJ Mayo is a headcase who would bring a huge entourage of leeches with him to Memphis. I hope the Grizz pass on him.

Yea, everyone knows the glamor and lifestyle in Manhattan, KS can cause ones ego to shoot the moon.

All the while Mayo lived it up in LA scoring free floor seats to Laker games, TVs, cash and what not.

Now who's attitude and lifestyle is going to be a problem again?

I honestly think the Grizz should trade their 2 first round picks for Chicago's 1st pick to get Beasley or Rose. They need a forward or a point guard. However, I don't think the Bulls will bite at that trade offer. If we only still had Pau to throw in there... GAH

...the whole country knows that. The only thing that will change after the draft is the signature on the check. I think he has been the best non-NBA professional basketball player of the last 4 years. He has been just cruising, not really exerting himself or risking injury. He will be All Pro in the NBA within 2 years.

Everyone reports on Beasley's attitude problems. I don't give a **** how he sounds in interviews; his work ethic and desire to win is questioned. How about if you find out what you're talking about before calling someone a dumbass?

And, Mayo has been rising on draft boards according to Chad Ford beause as teams look into his potential attitude problems, they're finding nothing but positives.

Edited to add from Beasley's player card from ESPN:
"Negatives: Character issues are the biggest question marks. Has been accused of being immature. Had some off the court issues as a high school player. As far as basketball goes, there's very little to complain about."

Try again.

He comes off the same way you describe Beasley.. probably better. A lot of sportswriters had that opinion of him coming out of high school and after talking to him most changed their tune. Mayo is unselfish, plays the game the right way, he's humble, and he works hard. He may or may not have taken money but I can't say I wouldn't have in his position.

yeah, back in HS, he pulled pranks. oh no, he is such a bad person for that!
</p>its not like he has hijacked cars. its not like he has been busted for selling weed. he hasnt been accused of rape or anything like that.

he pulled pranks back in HS.

one of em is actually damn funny. back when he played at Oak Hill, he and Ty Lawson had a challenge/bet to see who could sign their initials to more stuff on the Oak Hill campus. Lawson would sign inconspicuous things and placed, and Beasley would initial drinking fountains and stuff like that.
this is what his 'character issues' are.

forgive me if i think these 'character issues' are hardly indicitive of his character now.
what has he done over the last two years that would make you question his character?...or are there none? the guy is 19, maybe he has been growing up and maturing?
