Hey, OT here, but after taking a Twitter deep dive following another unc hoops beat down there’s chatter that UNC/davis doesn’t embrace NIL. What’s the deal? Hard to believe that two out of three years penn state might have the better hoops program. Here’s Oregon’s unis:
It's in flux right now. You have a Rams Club that operates as a non-profit to provide scholarships across the athletic dept. Now, you have companies trying to get UNC athletes to pimp local companies outside of the Rams Club. My take is that the university would prefer to have the Rams Club continuing to funnel dollars systematically and that's what Davis wants. Edit: I should be more clear. Lack of size will continue to haunt the Tarheels. Not only the lack of power bigs, but the 3 guards in the starting line-up are also small. I expect (hope) the freshmen will get more and more playing time. There was a lot of frustration over the inability to find a center in the portal this past spring and summer. Many fans speculate that NIL played a major part in that inability. It's in flux right now. You have a Rams Club that operates as a non-profit to provide scholarships across the athletic dept. As for this year's team, Davis has a new team that has to come together. They are playing a murderer's row early this season with the thought that they will improve as the season goes on. I wouldn't be surprised if they get into the tourney with 12 losses and become a very tough out in March Madness.
