AKA - "Michigan beat OSU in the regular season- How can we make that never happen again?" Lets give both OSU and Michigan the easiest schedule possible so they BOTH make it to the championship game.

But, I've thought this was a good idea for awhile, or at least changing the divisions every 2-3 years based on results

I totally support going back to 8 conference games and adding a PAC 12/ ACC alliance game each year. That would create much more interest rather than having another big ten game on the schedule.

I’m not sure how they are going to ditch the divisions with an 8 game season in a 14 team conference. The details of how they decide who the best teams are with lopsided schedules will be tricky.

Can someone please explain why they want to do this? I understand why they might want to return to 8 conference games to add inter-conference games but I don't see the connection to the division format. As far as one division being stronger than another, how does eliminating divisions allow for an equitable conference championship game? How will at least partially equivalent conference schedules be made?

I'll take a stab at our first schedule. The givens are that we open on the road and that the B1G will seize the opportunity to also send us to UM, OSU and Iowa plus giving us a road date at Clemson or a resurgent Miami or FSU.

Why not just two divisions: major and minor. The two teams with the worst record in the major go down to the minor and the two teams with the best record in the minor get promoted to the major. :)

Good job. But although Penn State plays the 2 Darlings back-to-back almost annually, the 2 are always Home and Away.

Oh, and more likely switch Iowa and Maryland so that the gauntlet is more in line with Big Ten thinking. ;)

The problem isn’t that there are two divisions. It’s just one of the divisions is so significantly better than the other.
SEC has the same issue. Georgia has a cakewalk to the SEC championship while Bama has to run a gauntlet

I am with you, 8 conference games and one alliance game on the inter conference basis. I also think they need to ditch playing opening weekend conference games. go 4 OOC games with one being that alliance idea. that leaves 3 OOC games to tune up the team. you can keep the OOC games at varying levels, but cannot make every weekend like the NFL.

Then one would think that the great minds of the Big 2 and the rest of you, could rearrange the divisions. Play 8 conference. Make sure the 2 get their last game of the season and it should be fine.
And, why would divisions need to be geographic?

Dumb idea, but it does give the B1G “Scheduling Office” greater influence. I’ll stop now

Too many Lakes, not enough Plains.

I see that every state that has a BiG team is on one of the Great Lakes except Neb, Iowa, Rutgers, MD.

I know everyone joked about the names but the format for The Leaders and Legends Divisions was good. They should have kept the format and changed the names.

I revised your schedule a bit to reflect how I think the B10 would do it if they could. Plus travel by bus and Motel 6 accommodations.

Don't you think Barry will manage to get Wisconsin into the "FC" Division?
Wisconsin is the Cousin Oliver of this Brady Bunch group.
