Those not at the game would have missed this: the Wrestling team’s national championship was honored with an elaborate and extended on-field celebration last Saturday, and our guests for the evening had themselves a front row seat.

I recorded it and watched the game on Sunday when I got home, wish CBS would have shown some of that. It was awesome during the game.
Excellent.I wasn't even thinking about it until my 11 year old turned to me and said "wow, they're really rubbing it in the Iowa fan's faces." Proud father moment.

Pat is the dude.Perfect.
I think many of you are giving too much credit to Pat, and also assuming that the honoring of the National Championship PSU wrestling team was done on purpose because Iowa was the football opponent.
The entire Penn State coach staff, and several of the PSU wrestlers, have been abroad for big chunks of September for the Senior World Championships of Wrestling. Before the competition (9/16 thru 9/24), there was an acclimation camp for the US team, which included the coaches and training partners for each US competitor. Several of the training partners were members of the current PSU wrestling team.
PSU Westling is very hush-hush about recruiting. One of the only ways you can learn about their actions is by monitoring the social media accounts of recruits. Some of us had been commenting in private conversations that unlike the other PSU sports, no wrestling recruits had posted anything on social media about being at PSU for a football game in September.
So the coaches finally returned to State College, and sure enough PSU wrestling hosted some recruits this past weekend at the Iowa game. I really do think that the honoring of last year's national championship wrestling team took place at the White Out because it was the first PSU home football game where the wrestling coaching staff and the wrestling team members were all at State College.
iowa athletic supporters in attendance must have been delighted.

Very much like the origin story of the the We Are chant, the point of my post is less about historical accuracy and more about providing an emotionally satisfying explanation.I think many of you are giving too much credit to Pat, and also assuming that the honoring of the National Championship PSU wrestling team was done on purpose because Iowa was the football opponent.

I think we’ll stick with the “stickin’ it to Iowa” narrative Tom !I think many of you are giving too much credit to Pat, and also assuming that the honoring of the National Championship PSU wrestling team was done on purpose because Iowa was the football opponent.

On a net basis it ain't that much. PSU probably made out in some cases.I'd like the big video board to show how much bowl money each big ten team stole from us last decade when they announce the team. I'm sure it's the same for all of them, but that would be nice.
Then we can have a real minute of hate with a real reason for the hatred. Maybe put up quotes from msu's president when they come. Stuff like that would be cool with me because I'm bitter AF and will never get over it.

No, I got what you were saying and I'm a subscriber to the pitchfork school. And, yes, ofttimes the cost of transporting, housing, and feeding the entourage exceeds bowl revenue. Schools that make out are those that stay home and pocket their share. You mean we netted more income/less loss by not going bowling certain years? If that's what you're saying, that is interesting to me. Believable. But I was trying to be irrational with the last post.
Pitchforks and statements of activities don't usually go together. Sometimes they do I guess.

Just means more money for them to spend on hooch and onion dip.I always see FSU and Gators playing bowl games in Tampa, Orlando, and Miami and think how great that would be logistically. So easy and cheap for them and the fans.
