...I'll come out of my hiding place for a few minutes.
Seriously, you won't see me posting much on the weekend, win or lose, due to familial responsibilities.
I think we all pretty much feel the same way, and everything that I've thought I've already seen posted.
I will say that this is why SEC teams have no business going on the road to play these games. This is the exact reason that other schools fork out the $$ to buy the games they need, because they know that anybody is vulnerable in that situation. A couple of key turnovers, some bad calls by the officials, and all of the sudden the home school realizes they are in it in the second half and turns it up about 5 notches.
Not to rehash it very much, but we had a bunch of things go against us - bad calls, turnovers - that often happen on the road. The depressing thing about it is that we would've overcome all that crap had our coaching staff not made two huge errors: 1) Giving up on the run in the second half, and 2) Leaving Lee in to try to lead a come back. The turnovers and bad calls don't bother me. Those are going to happen. However, the coaching errors are extremely troublesome, and I don't see how they can be corrected, barring somebody getting the ax.
For the record, I am not surprised to see C34 on here in full gloat mode, but I find it extremely hypocritical (again, not surprised.) The offense did exactly what he had been calling for them to do all summer. We opened it up, spread the field, threw short passes, etc. And the same result happened that happened against Arkansas last year (without any good reason to in this game), more yards, more turnovers, and a big fat L. Had we just ridden Dixon like we should've, we'd be sitting here arguing about how ugly the win was, but we'd still be 1-0. At least you got what you wanted, Coach.
The season is pretty much aborted now. No matter what we do, we left one out on the field. The best case scenario is to try to get to 6 wins and the Pizza bowl and keep our recruiting class intact. I do agree with Peaches on one thing, though. Croom's got 23 games left, barring a bowl game and/or winning season coming.
