can anyone tell me if Byrne is like his predecessor when it comes to the fans/students? Does he pass them by like they are a leper on crack? Or does he actually look people in the eye and even sometimes say hello?

Thanks!

....because he introduced himself to me. At the time, two and a half years ago, this was such a shocking and unprecedented act by someone in the MSU athletic dept that I'm surprised I didn't just fall out on the floor in shock and disbelief.

shook my hand, said "Hi, I'm Greg.", laughed at my joke. What more can you ask?

During the first basketball reseating I clicked the link to send an e-mail on one of those e-mails they send out voicing a few concerns I had about the process (not really expecting any real response). Within 10 minues our receptionist buzzed me and said Greg Byrne was on the line. He spent about 10-15 minutes discussing my concerns with me. I was highly impressed that 1) he called me and 2) from the conversation it was obvious to me that he understood my concerns and was able to explain how those issues were being delt with. I came away extremely impressed with him.

Rumor has it that he also walks on water. Some also expect him to feed the entire club level with nothing more than 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish.

That being said, I have found him to be a genuinely likeable and responsive guy.

back when Polk announced that he wanted Raffo to be his successor, I was very upset. So, for some God unknown reason- probably to vent to let someone know how I felt- and mind you I'm not one to e-mail the AD about anything, I sent Greg an e-mail. I respectfully told him that I did respect Ron Polk and his decision, but I felt like we should do a national coaching search and that I would recommend John Cohen.

I didn't expect to get a reply, but he sent one and told me that we would indeed do a national search and that he appreciated my caring about the program. He also wanted me to join the BC (I was already a member) and encouraged me to get others to join. You better believe I did just that.
