and we're talking about HS baseball, Tupelo and Ocean Springs will play for the 5A Championship at the TP. If you live in the Jackson area, or are from one of those two towns, the State Championships are well worth going to. Usually you will see some players that will either be drafted or playing college ball next year.

My player to watch:

Chris Stratton of Tupelo. He is a junior who is 10-0 with a fastball that tops out at 92. Hopefully God will tell him to go to MSU.

Also, Tupelo has a pitcher named Kyle Thorton who made DD and signed with Ole Miss.

I hope this stratton guy wants to come to here... or maybe it will be another stephen head incident and polk didn't know that "he could pitch!!!" Maybe raffooo is still working hard on all of those recruits just as hard as he had reeled in those all-americans every year. Continuity!!!!!!!

...contact Rashaud Dixon and let him know he'll be the centerpiece of new program for the next 3 years. He's already got a football scholarship so that'll help.

Ron Polk never liked to share players. That was fine back in the 1970's when he had unlimited scholarships, and the rest of the SEC was using baseball to keep its football players in shape. Now, having a two-sport athlete helps offset Hope Scholarship schools. Right now, Rashun is getting a LOT of attention from Major League scouts. Perhaps if the new coach would try to sell MSU baseball to him he might hang around a while.

6' 2", 210 lbs., playing catcher, bats .525 with 9 homers. He could be a millionaire in 2-3 months, but if I were the new Head Coach, I'd keep his number on speed-dial.

their staff this year but due to an injury to Kyle Thornton, he's filled that spot.

I wouldn't expect to get too many players from Tupelo in the maroon/white.

Most of their better players the last several years have signed with Bianco..............

our new coach can change that. That is one area of concern for the short term future- recruiting. But based on what we've been getting recently, it will be worth it in the long run.

As far as Rashun- I certainly would love to have him, but aren't his grades somewhat of an issue?

I think you are talking about the middle brother Antwan who went to Hinds last year. I believe that rashun is actually pretty smart.

Chris Stratton is the son of Lee Stratton.

And for some reason I think Lee Stratton went to MSU. Maybe not?

Not that that matters anymore.

Well, since it appears that he has good grades, then heck yeah, let's bring him in.

i think dixon is gone. after the terry vs. ocean springs game he said he wants to swing the bat and doubts he'll be in starkville next year.

with Stratton at this point. We were the first to show intrest this spring. I dont know how the coaching change will effect his situation. UM is not in the hunt at this point, but if UF comes calling he will be a gator. If he stays healthy through next season he will either be a Gator or a Dawg. His daddy is Lee Stratton the former basketball coach at Tupelo High.

Not sure about the average though. His grades aren't a problem either. He's got a 2.7 to go along with a 23 on the ACT.

He wants to go pro though. He wants nothing to do with college athletics.

Yea, I think Stratton is a Bulldog at this point. Then again, at one point so was Thornton.

I think 7-8 of their senior players have already signed scholarships.

*I'm going on memory with this post. It may not be 100% accurate.

.

that Thorton was always going to Ole Miss, but I may have picked that up after he was going to be a Bulldog.

Also, what is the UF connection with Stratton? Does he just like them?
