Sitting out second half

Ward for Miami getting his record and then sitting out the second half while his team loses is ridiculous. How do you quit on your team at half time in a tight game? It’s the epitome of what college football has become. The seniors who just lost their last game of football should never forgive him.

There are some on Twitter saying Cristobal had an arrangement with him to let him play the first half. I don’t buy that. I think as a coach no way you’d allow a guy to quit on the team at half.

I’m betting the alternative was that Ward didn’t play at all. They had a better chance of winning with Ward in for the first half over sitting out the whole game.

I agree that it’s a sнit move.

I’m sure there was an arrangement. Y’all are going to have to accept that bowl games are exhibitions, and the players and coaches treat them as such. Coaches leave for other jobs before bowl games. Players enter the portal before bowl games. Players opt out of bowl games. Cristobal isn’t going to be a hard a$$ with his star quarterback over an exhibition bowl game because he needs to be able to recruit more star quarterbacks who are good enough to sit out a bowl game because they are a guaranteed top five pick in the NFL draft. Cristobal was probably pleased and surprised that Ward was willing to play for a half.

Everything you say is true, but that doesn't make it right. I saw a linebacker from USC today who was a senior leave the game due to injury, covered in mud, a forearm brace on one arm and elbow protection on the other. He had been battling injury throughout the season. He laid it all on the line for his team down to his last minute. That's what football is supposed to be and it's a crying shame that part of football is dying on the vine.

Marshall couldn't not play in a bowl game they earned because the Head Coach left and 36 players opted out. So a 5-7 LA Tech team had to call back their players to fill Marshall's Spot. Was Grambling nit available to step in instead?

I give props to Shadeur Sanders and Travis Hunter for playing the whole game, (at least the first three quarters) even in a blowout. They are both probably top 5 picks but chose to play the whole game with their team. Cam Ward played for his individual record and then shut it down.

Those two.... we shall see. But if they are two first round draft picks.... what a turrible coaching job to get your tail kicked by BYU.

supposedly two first round picks and 7 whole points first half.... come on man.

And these are the kind of people with whom I want to surround my life.

It's a business. If he's slightly injured and at risk, then he can make that decision.

And a couple of Miami players got in a fight on the sidelines between the 1st & 2nd quarter. Probably not a coincidence a team that was supposed to be a national championship contender underperformed all season.

Miami and Iowa State were laying out some hard hits yesterday. Probably the most physical bowl game I've seen yet this bowl season.

The one thing this new era is doing, is revealing who has integrity and who doesn't, i.e who are just selfish dipshlts. None of this really matters though, as the bowls are simply exhibitions. And records aren't much more than that, just due to the differences in schedules, etc. I mean, there is a price to pay (beyond the NIL) for these mercenaries, if you want to go that route.

Kudos to him for even playing a half.
He did it to break a passing record, so hard to say it was an unselfish act. He was willing to risk injury for a personal record but left his team hanging. I'm numb to it all but hard to give a **** about guys that do something like that.

Yeah, what’s that got to do with my post jacka$$
Damn you @mcdawg22. And to think, I was going to buy you Taco Casa the next time you head home.**

I thought you meant Ward playing and being a top pick. I forgot CO had 2 top picks of their own. Still, no taco burger for you!

Generally, I can understand one transfer in this day and age. Lot of factors out there like coaches leaving, and just simply an obviously better overall opportunity (like Riley Leonard from Wake to ND, after playing a career at Wake). Shlt happens. But when you're on your 3rd team in 4 years, you are likely a selfish dipshlt of some kind. I mean Wazzou went 8-4 this year. No reason to leave his team, it's not like his coach left (until the other day).

But at the end of the day, it should surprise no one that this guy did this. I'm just glad they didn't make the playoff, and glad he didn't win the Heisman. NFL teams should take note. Good player, yes, but not someone in which I'm investing anything significant.

If that's the case, why did they start the season at all?
Who knows. Ask them. Some kids quit before their four games are up to preserver a redshirt.

Not sure why cam ward is taking heat for something that’s been going on for a while.

Cam is sitting on several million dollars. If there's no contract at Miami that says he must play, he can sit. Or he can choose to forgo whatever he would be paid at Miami and sit.

The folks who bet on the Cains to cover are not happy!!
#TotalBS he didn’t play in 2nd half.
I don’t like it. Either sit or play. Don’t get your record & then sit & watch your teammates get beat. But honestly if anyone bet on a meaningless bowl game & lost, they kind of got what they deserved.

I’d feel like a shlthead sitting out in that position honestly. I’d expect my teammates to give me 10 lbs of hell. I don’t know why THEY didn’t call him out.

Bunch of sheep.

This is one more reason why I should stop watching college football. I cannot imagine a single reason they should do this. Please put it in the same category as the guys who sat out because they were transferring; they spent the entire season sitting on the bench. Kids used to play for a university, but now they are playing for Benjamin Franklin. Why should I care?
