Any plans this winter? Favorite resorts?

I have been to Snowshoe and Colorado this winter. Will be headed back out west in a few more weeks. 4 feet of powder in the last week. My family gets the IKON pass.

Unless you get lucky, Snowshoe's snow and lines are pretty bad (particularly ballhooter).

We do MaryJane/ Winterpark for the most part. C-chair on the MJ side is the bomb.

Alsp enjoy skinning up in the backcountry with split boards. With the recent snow and Avalanche danger, I may pass on the next trip.

Here in SW Montana, it's been an awful snow year for the ski areas. Here we are in mid January and most of the local resorts still don't have all of their lifts running. Not even close. We have finally gotten enough snow this week that I expect most of the groomed green and blue runs to be open, but the more extreme parts of most resorts are still waiting for enough snow to safely cover the rocks. Just south of us, Jackson Hole and Grand Targhee have fared better (I've never known Targhee to not have snow, even when everybody else is bone dry). We may have to schedule an overnight trip to Targhee if our day-trip options don't brighten up considerably in the next couple of weeks.

I heard that some of resorts out your way are short on snow. We were thinking of coming out to Big Sky at the end of March. It should be good by then. I have been to Jackson Hole. Targhee is on my to do list.

When I checked earlier in the week, most of Big Sky's chairs were operating, but I was surprised at how many runs are still closed. Big Sky's website says "only" about 2800 acres are open, which is just a little over half of the available terrain. Of course, 2800 acres is still bigger than the vast majority of ski resorts.

March should be a good time for Big Sky. I'd be reluctant to plan a cross-country vacation at Big Sky in Dec through February given the possibility of encountering absolutely frigid conditions. Saturday morning, it was -40 at my house and -36 at Big Sky. I don't doubt there were vacationers skiing at Big Sky that day, but I guarantee you it wasn't fun.

Copper Mountain is a fun one that's pretty comparable to Mary Jane, and if you're there during the week, lines are fairly short.

Snow skiing requires cold weather and I have grown to really dislike cold weather. The only direction I am travelling after Christmas is south.

Been to Cooper several times. It's probably been 15+ years. I was doing blues as I was transitioning from ski's to snowboards. Probably didn't get to see the good runs. I am now all blacks+ . My kids know all the runs at MJ because we go several times per year so I don't have to worry about them getting lost.

My kids love finding the "smoke huts" at mary jane.

Not a huge fan of cold weather but I enjoy it for several weeks out of the winter .

I've had enough for this year. I'm usually fed up with it by February 1st and luckily that is usually when we start to get a little relief. I used to go to the Daytona 500 every February and it was always nice to come back to the car after the race and see a trace of pine pollen on the windshield. That slight dusting of pollen let me know that warm weather was only a few weeks away.

I lived like an hour south of there for 5 years and moved back in 2020. It's been updated really well. They've added a few cats, that I think at included on the Ikon pass. They also opened up the backbowl for more of a backcountry feel.

It's worth checking out with the pass.
