Don't be surprised is going forward SMU becomes to class of the ACC. Back when it was illegal to pay players they were on their way to being a powerhouse because they were paying players. They have a crap-tonne of oil millionaire alums who (at least back in the 80s) were willing to fork out the dough to have a winning program. With NIL and the portal we could see a quick return to the pony express days.
I am never pulling for Clemson, but if they win, and they surely can, it makes us looks better. It will be painful but if they win, they will get a spot in the top 12 that everyone knows should have been ours.

The good thing is, Arizona State blew Iowa State out of the water in the big 12 championship game. So if Clemson were to win, they would not get a four seed because I don’t think they will jump Arizona state. Arizona State is already ranked ahead of them and won their conference championship gave him a blowout. Unless Clemson were to win by an even bigger blowout, which is unlikely.
I would be fine with Clemson getting in and getting bounced in the first round if it Alabama getting bumped out.

Not in this world we live in now. These schools are going to need every penny they can get their hands on. The football budgets are about to go up 20.5 million a year.
I wouldn’t bet on that if Clemson were to beat #8 smu handily. Clemson was just behind both those teams and would have beaten a much higher ranked team.
It's possible if they beat them badly enough, but they haven't done that to anyone this year, so I'm not super worried. I definitely don't think they have the horses to make any noise in the CFP and I'm still steamed about Bama getting such favorable treatment, so I just want them out.
Committee does, obviously, prioritize brand names and Clemson is more of one than ASU, so if Clemson does enough to make it a debate, they'd probably get the edge.

Looks that way so far - ACC wants the taters in - and also wants SMU in so they need to make sure the taters win so they are in automatically and then whine saying SMU deserves to be in with a 11-2 records
