Agree. Iowa's garbage schedule may get them a hypothetical berth but I see them losing at least three games. That’s four B1G teams getting a playoff spot in that scenario. I can see that happening, but I highly doubt Iowa will be one of them.
Doesn’t ND usually play in this? Weren’t they in the Tony the Tiger Bowl last year?Pop Tart Bowl or bust!!

I’d put USC or Michigan in instead of Iowa. If D’Aton Lynn can straighten out the USC defense, they have a chance to be pretty good.Agree. Iowa's garbage schedule may get them a hypothetical berth but I see them losing at least three games.
It’s happening. B1G and SEC will fill up the playoff spots and the others will be left out.No Texas, Clemson, or ND in this scenario. Four each from B1G and SEC. Two ACC, one Big XII. Ehhh….. could happen.

Probably. They basically changed the rules to favor them getting in. They’re like the silver spooned trust fund baby that was never told no.No ND though? I think they get in.
Clemson vs Oklahoma State in the Pop-Tarts Bowl. That's a lot of orange!!! Shame they both don't wear their home orange jerseys just for the sheer chaos of it.Pop Tart Bowl or bust!!

You might be right, but I think you follow the money trail. The B1G and SEC generate the most money of any of the conferences including the biggest TV deals. I think they will get the benefit of the doubt more times than not over the other conferences.Since this is the first year of an expanded playoff, I could see them trying to give the P4 conferences 3 each with either the ACC or Big 12 losing a spot for the ridiculous Liberty/ Memphis token spot.
No and no Slippery Rock either. Close but no cigar! No ND though? I think they get in.
Must.....avoid.....the....obvious....comparison......Probably. They basically changed the rules to favor them getting in. They’re like the silver spooned trust fund baby that was never told no.
Without that slot there is no playoff.Since this is the first year of an expanded playoff, I could see them trying to give the P4 conferences 3 each with either the ACC or Big 12 losing a spot for the ridiculous Liberty/ Memphis token spot.

Overhanging threat of a lawsuit if they were excluded.I can't recall, but how is it that they were able to get a guaranteed playoff spot? How do they have so much leverage?
Without that slot there is no playoff.
Wait. I thought the 12-team playoff fixed everything.
The G5 conferences would tie it up in the courts for years. The Power 4 could go ahead with their own "playoff" but ESPN wouldn't be happy with the PR swirling around it.There’s still a playoff without that spot. Now there will just be 1 more deserving team left out (in most years).
If a UAB / Memphis type team makes a run like Boise St did years ago and are ranked high enough, then they’d be deserving of the spot and I’d have no problem with it.
That said, in most years it will be a token gift to a team with a significantly inferior schedule who would not get the spot if teams were properly ranked based on merit alone.
If this was in place last year, #12 Oklahoma would have been left out for #23 Liberty.

They'd have a case and a reasonable chance of winning, particularly when the selection is made subjectively be a committee largely dominated by members associated with the Power 4.You may be right. I have no doubt someone would try to sue. It’s pretty much the national pastime for many now.
Bottom line though is that I doubt they’d win any lawsuit. The G5 aren’t excluded even if you remove their ‘reserved’ spot. If they reach the top 12 they’d be in just like anyone else.
