So, did anyone think this escaped convict/guard issue was not going to turn out like this....

How long before this is a Netflix movie??? Get Ruthie from Ozark to play the prison guard!

The guy was facing murder charges so a violent end to the manhunt was always the most likely outcome. I just thought he'd wind up dead instead of the woman.

From the article:

”Authorities said they believe Vicky White willingly participated in the escape, which took place on her last day before retirement.”

Sad. In a twist of The Shawshank Redemption, maybe she was institutionalized.

I work in the prison industry. You’d be amazed at just how many staff members are corrupted by inmates - bringing in phones, drugs, etc. 99.9% of employees are great, but as always, there are a few bad apples. Amazing how manipulative a person can be when they’re facing life in prison.

It takes two to tango. The other person has to be willing to be manipulated. If I recall, she had no husband (widow) and no kids. It wouldn't be hard for her to be a willing participant, especially if she had some feelings involved.

My wife and I talked about this over the past few days. What I don't get I read she was going to retire in the next few weeks!!! This makes no sense to me and I agree with my wife she was not mentally well. I also never would have guessed she would have taken her own life in the end.

Her retirement took effect the day she sprung the guy. It was supposed to be her last day at work. She also sold her house for around half its value a week or so before.

I worked as a part time recreation instructor in a maximum security prison for several years. Most of the inmates had bodies to their credit. There were a few female corrections officers and I always wondered why they would work in that situation. I know its no "longer politically correct" to think that way.....but, I just felt then that nothing good could come of that situation. Someone should have been alarmed when the female officer took the 6ft.9 inch 260 lb. inmate out of the facility by herself.

A prison escape masterminded by two "losers" was doomed for failure. The "con" made sure the police didn't execute him.
