John Bond?
John bond played 4 years so not him.

My general observations:

1) 3 year college career with Year 3 being far better than the first 2, but still nothing special. So maybe an NFL pick as a Jr…..that’s what led me to think elite athlete running or play extending type QB who started to figure things out as a passer.

2) Two 11-game seasons, so probably from before they added the 12th game. So maybe before mid-2000’s era. Also, only 11 games, so maybe team wasn’t good enough for a bowl (unless the QB missed games due to injury both seasons).

3) Only threw it 16-18 times per game. Again, from past time period where offenses were running it a lot more and slower pace of play. 1980’s - 1990’s-ish again.

I don't remember being impressed with Tom Brady at Michigan, and I think they largely ran the ball then. Brady's my guess.

I first thought Brett Favre since it seems to be a guy who played on teams that didn't go to bowls and likely from the 70's or 80's. Not him. Started nearly all his 4 year career.

For some reason my next thought was Warren Moon. I cheated and looked. It's him at UW in the mid 70's.

Made me look at Montana. Guy was obviously a winner, but threw 25 TDs and 25 INTs at Notre Dame.

So it’s Warren Moon. I went further to see who his leading receiver was and here are his stats

More on Spider Gaines, here is a quote about his life.

After his pro football and Olympic Games aspirations deserted him, a rudderless and depressed Robert "Spider" Gaines turned to another avocation. He found something else he was good at.

He became a Canadian pimp.

That may be the most comical occupation I’ve ever heard. Soorry budday do you got my money, eh?

Dude blocked 2 punts in one game and blocked 5 kicks in his first 5 games.

if you want to see some surprising pedestrian stats of a top 3 all time QB , pull up Dan Marino's college stats. my favorite NFL player btw...
