The NFL’s discipline policy is laughable. Sean Payton getting a whole year in 2012 for players getting a little cash for hitting qbs and Brady getting a 4 game suspension in 2015, successfully appealing then getting re suspended for 4 games in 2016 for potentially deflating footballs is still ridiculous
Actions that affect or could potentially affect the on-field product are always treated as more severe by leagues than off-field actions that are essentially (from the league's perspective) just bad PR
