Somewhere between quiet confidence and inherent Gamecock dread.
I believe it has more to do with not having a clue of what to expect out of this offensive coaching staff. Could come in with a Spurrier game plan or Muschamp crap show. How can you get excited about that? I didn’t even bother with the Oklahoma game live, watched it Sunday. There are so many other things to do on a Saturday this time of year.
Seemed like the board was more pumped coming out of the Bye Week for the Ole Miss game, and we know how that turned out.
I like the approach this week, we have a really good defense, better then expected and need to see the offense takes some steps and be consistent, hard to get to excited, this game will be a clue the rest of the season will go, several very good but not great football teams like Tex AM left on the schedule.
Hard to be to confident (Offense) and hard to be to negative (Defense if really good).

Yeah, I guess that's it.
Everyone just seems sort of a meh for a game against a top 10 team who is only favored by 3 point.
It seems maybe fans feel like we wasted golden opportunities against LSU and Bama and wonder how many golden chances we'll get in season. We're the only the reason we aren't 6-1 and top 10ish right now.

And even the one time we did manage to beat them, we did our darndest to make the game more interesting than it needed to be at the end.
I like the quiet confidence narrative.
OL has to give Rocket some holes to run through.
Sellers has to make quick throws and not hold the ball with Simon being a primary target until they stop it.
21 points from the offense is the goal with hopefully some additional points from the defensive side.

I would love to say as much, but like said above, I’m in that middle ground of fun. Lol
I'm cautiously optimistic. A&M is a really solid team, but they're not world beaters.
That said, though, we've all seen this movie before. Great win followed by a bad loss.

There's also not a lot of hype about it being Homecoming. I think I've gotten may 2-3 emails total (since August) from the Alumni Association about events this weekend. In fact, I got more emails about Coastal's Homecoming Week/Game than I have about our Homecoming.

Hope team doesn’t feel like a bunch of us fans do. Fan wise there are so many matchups that could go all over the place. Maybe we come out with some offense maybe we don’t. D needs to stay on top of their game to give us a chance. Expecting A&M to run a bunch.
There have been to many Games over the last 50+ years that i have been super excited to see only to see us lose by 30.

I see 18 hasn’t posted during or after the game. Hope he’s not sick. He usually does the backhanded gamecock fan schtick 50 times a day. He lays low after wins and relishes close losses. He and his posse are noticeably absent last night and today

So true! A real Gamecock fan would relish the wins and support the team during the low periods. It was a big win on a big stage against a strong opponent. To it’s credit, this team doesn’t give up like the quasi-fans who come here just to pontificate on their supposedly intelligent opinion.
What did not age well about the thread? Please enlighten me.
Fact is, there WAS very little fan enthusiasm about this game during the week, which is all this thread addressed. That is 100% factually correct. Outside of the enthralling discussion of the game time slot, there was next to no discussion about the game on here this week. I said nothing about how the game would go.
Once again you're wrong but it's nice to know I live rent free in your head 365 days a year.
