do with SMU if this score holds? Are they going to punish them for playing in their conference title game to put Bama in? I don't doubt that Bama has a better team, but it's a bad look if they do.

If SMU scores here, do they go for 2? Best case you win and get a bye. Worst case you have a 1-point loss and likely get the at-large bid.

I guess they figure an OT loss is no worse than a 1-point loss.

Hell, even McIlroy is arguing that it sets a dangerous precedent for college football to allow a loss in a conference championship game to put an otherwise in team out of the CFP.

We are about to find out if ESPN wants the conferences to continue to have title games. If they take Bama over SMU then their days are numbered.
