So what's the latest on Kiffin?

Anyone have a clear picture of what's going on?

According to On3’s Matt Zenitz, Kiffin told Ole Miss players that he plans on staying the head coach of the Rebels unless “something significantly changes.”

More money might be the "significant change" he speaks of!

If you ask me to decode that statement. He is telling his players to continue doing their jobs. And telling Ol’ Miss and Auburn to show me da’ MONEY!

Pay increases are significant changes.

I'd hesitate to pile on Ole Miss too hard. This "failure" of a season for him still has his team with better record and ranked higher than the season some are calling a success here.

And calling his offensive prowess into question seems odd for anyone claiming our offense is any good. His offense is ranked about 70 spots higher.

Ole Piss scores 2.5 more points per game than we do. In SEC play, 1.6 points more than us.

Was losing 42-6 going into the 4th quarter against Arkansas last week. They had 6 drives in the 2nd half last night against Miss St. The first 5 of those had a combined total of 22 yards. Sorry, I'm worried he isn't consistent enough. LOL

He is not some kind of offensive genius like some want to believe for some reason. Overhyped and overrated. Like I previously said, born on 3rd base, thinks he hit a triple.

Ole miss offensive rank: 9th
our offensive rank: 77th

which one is being hyped as a success?

Ole miss record: 8-4
Our record: 7-4

Which one is proof a coach is not good while the other is proof a coach is doing great?

I don't know if you arguing for or against a particular coach, but I'd rather build a program with Beamer.

There are other factors in that. As we saw this year, Kiffin is sought after, and would not be a long term hire for a team on our level.

I am simply pointing out that it's foolish to denigrate the man's offensive coaching with those stats/rankings. (And this is an old debate, hence you're missing a lot of history)

He became less appealing after the past two games. Ole Miss shouldn't sweat losing him. He's nothing special if championships is what a school wants.
This.

I'm not sure how this thread turned into a comparison of Beamer of Kiffin, but that comparison has absolutely nothing to do with whether a program like Auburn will find what they are looking for in the person of Lane Kiffin.

Deflection by the Kiffin nuthuggers. He was all world a few weeks ago before he hit the tougher part of his schedule. Not so much anymore.

Has nothing to do with Auburn, its an old argument from the old board. Kiffins job building Ole Miss was dared to be compared to Beamers, so some got emotional and took offense.

Kiffin was supposed to fail after his qb Carrol graduated. (Which is why that comment was drug back up) I simply point out that this "failure" includes a higher ranking, better record (currently) and an offense ranked about 70 places higher than ours. Hardly a "failure", imo, if we consider our rebuild a success so far.

If I told you the crux of the debate was Kiffin's offensive prowess vs a certain OC in Columbia, you'll probably understand why a certain poster is reacting so strongly.

So, how did that work out for you?

We are 8-4 too AND ranked higher than Ole Piss in the polls.

We beat TWO top 10 teams, Clemson and Tennessee. Ole Piss beat ONE, Kentucky. And we beat Kentucky too.

And this is Kiffin's THIRD year. Not second like Beamer and Satt.

Like I said. overrated. Born on third base, think he hit a triple.

Offense still ranked 70 spots higher.

Same record supposedly being him failing, but us doing well sounds par for the course too.

And did you want to compare his second year? Because that was 10-2, ranked 8th to finish the regular season. And a top 6 ranked offense to go with it.
