So, who wins it all?

I'm fairly confident picking Texas, UGA, and Oregon being 3 of the final 4.

The remaining spot being, Penn St, SMU, or Boise St..... I don't really care and could see any of them taking that spot. I would lean towards it being SMU or Boise St as Franklins record in "big games" is abysmal. Abysmal is putting it nicely. Penn St will choke, just a matter of when.

Either way with the remaining 1 spot of the final 4, UGA wins to make it to the Championship game, IMHO.

That leaves Texas vs Oregon and - I just don't know...... Oregon is due for a loss. Gun to my head, I'm taking Texas just because of their D. They look really good on D. So, Texas vs UGA final game, I got Texas winning it all. Same mentality as "Oregon is due for a loss" , is "Hard to beat a team 3 times in the same season."

Oregon wins and I think some of these games are a lot closer than people think.

I honestly don’t care as long as it isn’t clemtech. They are not good enough to be in, so, hopefully they get exposed in Rd1. The one that will turn my stomach the 2nd most is uga….. so given my luck, I’ll go ahead and predict that they’ll pull it off.

UGA simply refuses to lose. Their defense is good enough to keep them in every game. I think the championship game is between Oregon and UGA. Oregon has a great offense but their defense is weak. I could see UGA winning it all in a 24-20 type game.

Biggest problem is QB play IMO. I really believe having some plays for Manning will help. Grew up pulling for Texas back in D Royal years. Drifted to Gamecocks about 1970. Always considered UT my "2nd team". Them joining SEC kind of put a kink in my armour 🤣

I think it could very well be an SEC Championship II with TX and GA but not sure who wins it.

Kinda feel like their's is the path through the bracket I would choose if I were them. Oregon has a tough road regardless of a bye. Having to play the Tenn/OSU winner and then likely Texas is quite a task for a one seed. I like Texas' chances. And if they do get past the O, I have serious doubts UGA can beat them three times in a row if they prevail. Anyway, call it a hunch, I like where Texas is sitting.

Unless Beck has a total recovery I don’t see Ga winning or even making the final.
Beck hasn't been anything really special this season. Stockton gives UGA a running threat at qb that Beck really didn't and Stockton getting all the reps with the ones in practice will make him better. The UGA offense hasn't been too good but their defense is tough to score points on. Kirby has consistently shown that defense still wins championships.

At first glance, I agree with you but UGA has been a tough team to beat all season and I don't see that changing.

If Georgia has to beat Texas a third time….. Imo Texas should have been eliminated Saturday.

I agree. It is ridiculous to have any system where one team has to beat the same team three times in order to win a championship.

Georgia. Much easier path to the Championship game than anyone. Huge home field advantage playing at Mercedes Benz Stadium. I was at both the UGA/Ohio State game and UGA/Texas game The OSU attendance was about 60/40, Georgia. The Texas game was 70/30, maybe 80/20, Georgia. If it’s Georgia/Oregon, I’d expect at least 85/15 Georgia.

That's any playoff format. NFL teams frequently have to play a division opponent, two teams that already played twice in the regular season, in the playoffs. The perfect season Patriots beat the Giants in the regular season, then lost to the Giants in the Super Bowl.

MLB division opponents meet in the playoffs on a regular basis as well, a fact of which I'm all too aware as a Braves fan.

What is the alternative here with Texas? You're going to eliminate Texas from the top 12 because their two losses were to Georgia? That doesn't make a ton of sense.

I've posted before what the best solution is to the whole college football championship issue, an 8 team playoff made up of only conference champions. 8 10 team conferences playing 9 game conference schedules with no conference championship games. Conference champions face each other in a three round playoff to determine an actual national champion for the top level of college football. Do not allow any OOC opponents to be from outside of those 8 conferences, no FCS cupcake games to pad a coach's record or team stats. Since winning your conference would determine your status in the playoff, a regular season OOC loss would not affect your chances of getting in the playoff so OOC games could be very compelling games. Imagine Carolina scheduling a home and home with USC for bragging rights at to who is the "real USC".

No polls, no stupid beauty pageant type committees, everything would be settled on the field. Bowls could still exist for the 72 teams that didn't make the playoff and the 50 or so that would have to be culled from the top conferences to get to 80 teams.

This is not the best solution because of the vast disparity between conferences.

It's much, much harder to win the SEC or B1G than it is to win the MAC or Conference USA. Let's not act like these conferences are anywhere close to equal.

I like the fact that you don't get penalized for good OOC matchups in your scenario, but beyond that it just doesn't work.

It would require a lot of conference realignment and reshaping. For instance, Carolina may not be able to remain in the SEC for football, we may have to move to the ACC when Wake Forest, Duke and Maryland are pushed out because they aren't competitive enough for the new top level of college football. Vandy, Miss St, Kentucky and Arkansas might also have to find a new home or move down a level for football. Obviously, conferences would have to shed teams to get to 10 teams. This would help realign conferences more geographically. All of those West Coast teams that jumped to the B1G would have to go back to the Pac 10 and Stanford wouldn't be in the ACC anymore. There are 134 FBS football programs now and technically, all of them can get in and win the CFP. That is absurd.

I'm talking about a complete overhaul of the top tier of college football.

I personally think Beck is extremely overrated. Whether Stockton can lead them or not….I don’t know. I do know there aren’t any teams afraid of that UGA offense with Beck leading it.

^^This^^ Kirby has built a Saban@Bama program at UGA. He is not going to win big with offense but he doesn't want his offense to lose games for him. He wants to win with a defense that doesn't let the other team score a lot of points and an offense that scores enough to win without putting up gaudy numbers. Kirby's teams aren't built for shootouts, they are built for death marches.

Afraid or not, Beck is 11-2 this year with the toughest schedule in college football. He is the leader of the team that won the SEC and is favored to win the National Championship. Now that Stockton established himself, it opens a new dimension for Georgia’s offense.

Yeah. Not denying the facts. Just don’t know that Georgia loses a whole lot losing Beck. Just don’t think he’s great. Probably the leadership piece, which you pointed out, is the biggest thing. But I don’t know how good of a leader he is, admittedly. Georgia is most dangerous when they can run the football. Stockton does remind me more of Stetson Bennett who was perfect for that offense.

Stockton is a bigger version of Bennett. He is tough as a two dollar steak and he basically gives UGA another RB in the backfield.

Georgia has the worst group of WR in the playoff field.Dont know how many drops per game they are averaging but its considerable.Especially #11.
Beck might well be overrated but I don’t think Georgia beats Oregon or Ohio State without him.
In the overrated dept you might add Ewers,Drew Allred,Niko,Ohio State Qb,

They are getting closer by the year with nil and and the transfer portal. I don’t buy this. Especially the power 4.

I can't go with SMU after the way they folded against Clemson. I fault the loss of the game on the Head Coach for the management of the final quarter, particularly the last 10 seconds with two timeouts. Why not take one to get his special teams calmed down from the excitement of scoring the tying TD and then to again one when the defense clearly was on their heels.

It's anyones guess at this point, but just for the chaos and meltdown that would ensue, I would love to see Boise or Arizona St win it all.
That would justify too many things that are systematically wrong, but which an aberration could be used to perpetuate.

Well, Harvard, I think Boise could actually do it. Their only loss was by three, on the road at Oregon. Of course their overall schedule wasn’t that tough, but they have a monster running game, a good defense, and they took the only undefeated power team to the wire on the road. It would be a thing of beauty.

But if not them, my money would be on Oregon. Their coach is fantastic, and they have it rolling this year. I just don’t want it to be Texas. Horns down…

Don't forget who the OC is. Did they ever take out an ineffective QB?

I've watched them a lot. Their special teams and their D can't match up with P4 teams. They'll be a tough out, tho. Oregon is overrated.

I can't really agree with this sentiment. Oregon beat 3 teams in the 12 team bracket this year. Boise, Ohio St & Penn St.
Literally defeating 1/4 of the 12 team field makes the overrated argument difficult
