So... who would you have put in the playoffs?

Seeing as how a lot of SEC teams are showing up as duds. Of course, OM still has to play, but it's a given they shouldn't be in.

Idk but I will be rooting for Boise. But as for bowl games I think everybody that plays wants to win. It's important. As far as opt outs I'm sure they still hope their team wins but you gotta protect yourself for the draft. If you think you are a high pick. Otherwise its selfish as 17 to opt out and leave your team hanging. I guess either way is selfish but if you are a top ten pick I think everybody gets it.

There was no way that Indiana or Boise State would have or should have been left out. Indiana finished 11-1 in the Big 10. They'll never leave a team from the SEC or Big 10 with only 1 loss out, and probably not the ACC or Big 12 either. There's also no way a team like Boise State that finished 12-1 with a 3-point road loss to the #1 team would have ever been left out either.

The only controversy was whether SMU should have been in - I would say no, but I understand why they didn't want to punish them for losing a CCG and hand it to a questionable 3-loss team.

We can hope that over the next few years, the NIL and additional playoff bids spread the talent out even more (they already have some, but there's clearly some ways to go) and lead to better playoff games. Fixing the seeding rules would help too.

There was blow outs when we had a 4 team playoff. There will be blowouts again this week in the round of 8, because college football is what it is.... a very tilted league in terms of talent and resources. The money, big teams will always have the upper hand.

It is like if MS had a HS playoff and the 7a through 1A was all lumped together and 1A districts were seeded against 7a districts.

It’s hard to come up with 12 teams and defend them all.

So I guess I would cut it to 8 with no auto-bids.

8 most deserving:
1-Oregon
2-Georgia
3-Texas
4-Notre Dame
5-Penn State
6-Tennessee
7-Ohio State
8-Indiana

So basically, 10+ win SEC and Big Ten teams (plus Notre Dame), which, if we’re being honest, is who belongs.

There weren’t 12 national championship worthy teams this year. Bama would’ve gotten beat by Notre Dame just like Indiana did
There aren't 12 national championship worthy teams any year. There will always be mismatches in the playoffs and it will get worse when it expands to 14 teams.

I don’t think any of these bowl games really are indicative of second guessing who should be in or out of the 12-team CFP — rosters aren’t the same or players are sitting out part of the game

The only team that has truly impressed me is Ohio State because they took it personal and skull-drug Junior and Lulu Nation

You can’t make assumptions based on these bowl exhibitions. The players that are playing in these bowls are not the players that played the regular season or would have played in a playoff game. Even if it is a similar roster there is no sense of urgency amongst the players because the games don’t matter Beyond entertainment.

1. Oregon
2. Georgia
3. Notre Dame
4. Texas
5. Penn St.
6. Ohio St
7. Tennessee
8. Boise St.

beyond that, it’s meaningless. Really, it’s pretty meaningless once you get past Ohio St.

I get it for anyone who has the potential to be in selected in Round 1-4. NFL is a business and these businesses have had there eyes on players since the start of the college season and some since they started college. If a player that is a potential draft pick gets injured then they determine the risk of drafting that player. A first rounder drops to lower rounds and lower round players either drop lower or do not get drafted. I think teams should embrace the opportunity to play backups and see if they are up to par in live action or they need to hit the portal.
