Finished tied for second yet we are the fifth seed. How did we become the odd man out? I mean, if anything, it goes down to us in Kentucky and we won the head to head. We have a better season record. So how did Kentucky end up ahead of us. Damn, how about a coin flip? Does anyone know how this played out?

Four teams were tied...not just us and Kentucky. So the SEC looked at the found robin results of the four teams. We're were 1-2 and evidently the other three were 2-1.
4-way tie for 2nd and they had the best head-to-head amongst us, AUB, & ALA.
Unlucky but we have a chance to get a W against a team we're favored against prior to matching up with Auburn away from their barn.

We are not tied with Kentucky we are in a 4 way tie....the tiebreaker is record against the others....we are 1-2 against the other 3 and thats the worst record of everybody....therefore we finish 5th
Yep, Bama and UK were 2-1 among the 4 teams. Auburn was 2-2. We were 1-2, so we get #5.
Curiously, I think Kentucky jumps all the way to the number two seed, since both they and Alabama had the same round robin record among the 4-way tie, but Kentucky beat Alabama head to head.

The explanations make sense. I was thinking UK split with Bama and lost to us and Auburn. knowing we lost to Bama and Auburn I knew they would be ahead of us. That’s why I thought it was down to us and Ky for the 4 th slot
