Scranton parade day/amateur hour.

It will be interesting in the next 24 hours if the Scranton parade decides to go on. With 5-8" projected and starting a few hours before the parade kicks off, the already cluster f*ck of a traffic and parking logjam downtown could get really messy. Not to mention the above stated amateur hour crew trying to get in and out.

I wonder if Saquon will be back. 😉

IMO, the best St Patrick's parade in PA takes place in Girardville. This years parade will be held on Saturday, March 26th. Open containers are the norm, food is amazing and the whole atmosphere is small town. Head down to the Hibernian House as the paraded draws to a close. The AOH band will show up and entertain and they'll have a food tent for you the purchase. Parking is a mess, but just deal with as best you can. The parade starts at 12 noon, but this year they are going to shut down vehicle access to the town at 10AM so I guess most will have to park along Rt 54 where ever they can find a spot. I'll be there before 10 so I'll park somewhere in town.

If you've never been to the coal region (hard coal, not that ugly spotted stuff out west) this is a great opportunity. There are typically all types of politicians there and in the past Presidents, Senators, and Representatives, Governors, etc have shown up. Usually the Democrats, been pretty cool none-the-less.

Ya know, there used to be a bus called the Aran or Erin Express that took folks from Irish Pub to Irish Pub in Philly back in the day. We went down to Philly to experience it, needless to say we never made it out of the first bar until last call!!!

In my youth....bunch of us would rent hotel rooms, start bar hopping on Friday at 5pm and go till Sunday nite. Was a great time, although Monday at work was brutal....
We used to hit Farleys at 8 am for 17 cent green beer drafts. They'd cover the floor with sawdust to soak up all the spilled beer. The bathrooms at all bars were a free for all, as you know.
