Our 15th ranked softball Dogs have a three game series at South Carolina this weekend. SC is 3-6 in the SEC but ranked No. 25. Really need to find a way to win this series. We have Tennessee at home next weekend before going to Missouri. We finish up with Georgia at home. If we can find a way to go 6-6 in the final 12, I think we host. Going to be tough, but at least two of the top 5 series we have left are at home.

Best path for 6-6, in my opinion

2 at South Carolina
2 vs Tennessee
1 at Missouri
1 vs Georgia

How close is going to be? They just dropped a home game with Samford and moved it to Birmingham to get the road RPI boost.

by no means a big follower.. but looking at numbers alone

23 RPI with one of the worst non-conference SOS (110th) in the top 40, typcially doesnt scream host site.

Seems like every other team you listed has a better resume than we do.

Think it'll take more than 6-6 to get it done, and by looks of it, asking us to go 6-6 against that schedule is a large task

NCAA seems to do outlier stuff in softball. Eight SEC schools have hosted before and all 13 made the tournament a couple years ago.

If we find a way to go 6-6 in our final 12, we will be a top 10 team in the polls.

If you want to look at it in the baseball traditional sense, the SEC will get at least six host sites, maybe 7. 4 are locks, so we are competing with Missouri, A&M, and Alabama for two spots. We went 1-2 against A&M and have Mizzou left on the schedule. We don't play Alabama, but we swept Louisiana who is also in the hunt and the only team to have beaten Oklahoma this year.

It doesnt help that our non-conference teams outside Louisiana have stunk it up.

They were just looking je baseball this past weekend. They could have swept Florida, but only won 1 game. They have to win some series. Basically everyone in the SEC is good at Fastpitch, except Ole Miss.

Good luck winning two against TN. They just ended the longest winning streak in the country. They're legit. We've got a better shot at UGA. They lost two at home to AR last week. MO is doable but not easy. Our schedule is crazy..
Also, NCAA wants big crowds, it's the only reason AL is even on the map this season. They aren't good. Right now, our RPI is last in the SEC of the teams in contention . It won't be by end of season.

Our RPI is 9th in the conference though.

So we'll need to raise that, or out perform those closer to us. Youve already mentioned the loss to AM H2H, and I would guess Alabama would get the tie-breaker over us due to name brand alone in the softball sport.

Seems like an uphill battle.. but we do have the opportunity in front of us. Got to win the games that matter.

There's the true state fan. Let's highlight the negatives.
